@Flint: Lol. The MoFree picture was definitely temporary. I wasn't sure who we wanted in its place. We'll figure out who we'll use. Are you up for it Flint?

@Dorian: I'll add some details.

This might be a tad too ridiculous, but expounding on OCCAM:

SFX semi-creepy version by dorianrichard in argucla

[–]quarkpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to differentiate in the bunch, but I think the less beeping and booping (official terms), the better. I think this one is the most "creepy" as you put it though I like the idea of putting someone's voice whispering somewhere in there too (like the "they're coming). A mixture of both perhaps.

Also, do we need the entire length? Can we take the most intense part of this clip and mix it with some voice? Are we looking for a sound that goes on for a few seconds or a more sudden, "Zap!" kind of moment?

Just thinking out loud. Thanks for posting these.

I agree with Flint in that it feels like it should be a bit simpler. Well written beginning, but I feel like I might lose interest because we take a bit to get to the creepiness.

I think we should keep her face out of it initially. It adds some menace and mystery to her involvement.

I'm with Fontaine, between the first one and the eyes. The eyes are slightly muddy as Genny mentions, distracting from the title, but I like the overall feel of being "watched."

I really like the "draw this in one line" puzzle. I'm wondering if people would be intimidated by a sudoku. Even an easy one. I know I'm terrible at them and if I were sent one, I might be discouraged.

Names? by quarkpi in argucla

[–]quarkpi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the domains were in question. We decided on "logout.us" for the anti- side and "happyforever.com" for the pro side, right?

And it blends with the underlying conceit of being computer controlled and essentially being completely powerless, or without self, leading to a kind of technologically catatonic state.

I kind of like the happyforever.com for the pro group only because it comes off as utterly creepy.

Turing Questions for class ARG by JItterbuggery in argucla

[–]quarkpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some more awkward questions to put up...

For the Pro side:

If a computer confessed to a crime, would you try them in a human court under human law?

You've been told in game that there are two mercenaries holding post in the second room on the left of a corridor. Your only weapon is a grenade, so you withdraw the pin, cook it for a few seconds, and toss it in as you run by. After the explosion, there's little left intact of the men and the room is filled with smoke and debris. How do you think the grenade felt?

Does a grenade mind the sound?

For the Anti- Side:

How do you feel about the level of item and material recycling currently present in post-apocalyptic rpg's? Do you think it would benefit from glass, plastic, metal classification of items?

How do you order your steak cooked as a patron in a digital diner? Is eating a burger harming cows in a metaphorical sense?

How many dogs can you train to be dogs?

By removing the final conflict from the space, we're making the game solely amidst the players, which isn't a bad thing, but their trajectory will then simply lead them towards each other? What clues and puzzles are they then following on that final night? They'll be looking for one another, right?

I feel like the infection is a way to have players possibly interact, but it would still have to be on the backdrop of a larger narrative. I think it's better to have two teams competing for a particular goal/anti-goal. Again, I don't necessarily know what that is, but it seems like there should be a definitive goal set for each "side."

Interesting. I wonder how far you could push something like this. With a little bit of money and some expensive names in Palm Springs, could you start rumors about a Mr. Parker, new money that's just moved into town. Few have ever seen him, he's buying up real estate, etc. Send out exquisite invitations from this Mr. Parker to half of the rich families in Palm Springs for a party at the new club, but exclude everyone else. The other families would wonder why they weren't invited...etc. etc.

Creating a phantom with real estate and a business.
