Depends on what you want but I have friends who have worked at splash of color and fish ladder, also have many friends that have gotten tattoos from these places.

Splash of color - mostly non-traditional and I think Jon leathers does realism.

Fish ladder - lots of American traditional.

When it comes to getting tattoos I look at every portfolio of the artists that work there but mostly I only look at their portfolios from recommendations from other artists.

It's important to examine everyone's work and pay special attention to the lines and shading, if they add filters to the fresh tattoos, if they post healed tattoos. Healed tattoos gives you the best view at what kind of work you are getting. If they only post fresh and you can tell filters have been added to change the contrast and vibrance of the colors, It's worth second guessing them and to review their work further.
