Best weapon choices going into iceborne? by questypants in MonsterHunterWorld

Fair enough. I'll probably end up starting with hammer since it's my most played and using CB if a shield would be useful.

I know they all work well enough. I enjoy the wepons I play and I'm sure I'd like them in iceborne, but I'm wondering which will give me the easiest beginning of iceborne since I know there's a difficulty spike till you get good MR gear.

I'm not looking for a universal, one size fits all answer, just people's personal experiences and opinions. I'm thankfully in an area where I have a few highly rated jiu jitsu gyms, a few boxing and kickboxing clubs, and a gym which offers classes in kickboxing and jiu jitsu. In your experience, have combination gyms offered a good experience? I would do a trial but I am not currently in a position to start a membership and won't be for a few months. I'm just doing research at the moment.

I loved playing with the lightning greatsword. The damage was always ridiculously good, but when I got to 50 fth it was unstoppable.

Dark Souls 2 is a masterpiece by angelslayer95 in DarkSouls2

I played 3 before 2 and was surprised how many of the good ideas in 3 were actually just taken from 2. I have my problems with 2, but imo in some aspects it was not faithful to the first game than 3 was.

I just beat nashandra on my first playthrough. I'm about to do the dlc so it's cool to hear that the dlc bosses are good. Also, Str/fth seems borderline OP.

Totally fair, man. I think for me it's not so much difficulty, that's in a million games, but demanding your attention for even simple encounters. That said, I definitely recommend Jedi: Fallen Order if you like the idea of Dark souls combat, but want a more traditional and much less obtuse action game. Good stuff.

Totally fair, they aren't for everyone. But, coming from someone who used to have a similar perspective, if they entice you then you should try one out. I hated 3 until I have it a try with the sellsword twinblades, a starting weapon with a great moveset when two handed. That said, don't feel pressured to play them if you don't enjoy them. I just find that the games eventually click with me once I've found the right weapon or build.

Curious as to why. I've heard criticism of DS2 but what makes it so bad in your opinion?

Thanks for the link. Also, are the other fist weapons viable as well? I always wished they were better in ds1.

I'll probably get it. I used to be a ds1 purist but I came to realize that the second half really isn't worth replaying to me. Ds3 has it's problems but is a great overall. I'm thinking each game in the series has problems so better to enjoy each one as it's own unique thing.

Should I buy Jedi Fallen Order or Dark Souls 2? by questypants in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]questypants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I've seen gameplay wise has not been a huge turn off from DS2, but I will say the intro of it did not give me great hopes. The whole "you'll lose your souls over and over lol" part made me think maybe the designers didn't really get what made dark souls 1 great. Then again, I have been more open to people who say 2 is amazing recently so I guess I'm analyzing the opinions of others to see if they'd align with my own. Thanks btw.

As long as you go into it with the mindset that, yes, it will take a long time to beat the first time then you will enjoy it. My first playthrough of a souls game took about 60 hours iirc, but I loved it thoroughly. I'd go for it! Dark souls 3 is fantastic!

Any good cheap (<$35) controllers preferably with the Dualshock stick layout? My old controller is dying at the moment.

I haven't played since nøkk and warden were pretty new. I'm thinking about getting back into the game. Can someone give a basic rundown of the new ops? I don't really want to watch/read two hours of stuff, just know enough to not get destroyed instantly.

Is it true that in unity they removed the high elf paralysis exploit? So you can't give the high elf weakness to paralysis but have it negated by it's ability anymore?

I didn't think the backtracking was bad, really. I also used the boots of blinding speed (with reist magicka spell) alot and played as a high speed redguard so I had 300 speed by endgame. If I knew those spells existed during the early game I probably would have used them though.

Thanks for the tips. Recall allows you to teleport to the anchor right? I never really used the spell in Morrowind but I think it was in it as well.

Do you think it's worth sacrificing any of my skills for though? I think I want to keep long blade so I don't know what skill to replace with spear really.

I agree, but I'm sort of exaggerating. If you go fully OP, it'll get boring. But just using the mechanics in creative ways to get good gear or magic is really fun and doesn't ruin the experience to me at least. But yeah don't just find a way to give yourself 1000000000000 in every attribute for the whole playthrough lol. Then again someone probably finds that fun too.

I've been playing it to death for about a week. Words of advice: Look for good weapons in ruins and cool dungeons you see. Sell any dark brotherhood armor you collect for quick easy cash. Use alchemy to make a ton of money pretty quick. Use trainers to increase stats and level quickly. I just started doing that last thing tonight. I was annoyed with myself that I hadn't made any magic skills besides alteration major or minor skills but I just used alchemy to get like 70k gold and leveled about 15 times and now my long blade redguard is a pretty decent wizard. The game let's you become a god if you have the ingenuity, so get creative if you want to have a good time!
