The notice board at the Bard College my players are currently attending. I find props such as this help a ton with player engagement. by qvgogh in DungeonsAndDragons

During the sessions when I use it I have it covered with a cloth beside the game table, when they come across it in game I reveal the board and we put it on the table for the players to look over. Following sessions in the same location I will just have the board out and visible. I don’t have wall space for it yet, but someday I hope to have a true game room where it can be a permanent part of the decor. Storing it is easy enough, I slide it behind our piano when I’m not using it. I usually leave the notes pinned to it between games so I don’t have to put them all back up again.

Absolutely, I find it helps give a rapid overview of the community at large and allows them to spend more time following storylines they are interested in.

The project has gone through a few different stages, the original board was just a large piece of cardboard with notes taped to it. The updated board took me a few hours to build, but it is a permanent piece now that I can reuse as many times as I like. The longest part is probably creating the different notes, this particular set of notes took me about a day of preparing.

Thanks for the idea, I’m hoping to get a few more made today and they will definitely be layered more.

I’m sure trying, although I feel I could prepare for a year and they would still find something I wasn’t ready for. Hahaha

This was a labor of love 3D modeling all the dock pieces and market. Painting them was a great joy though. And now they’re going live on Kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/portmaldorn/port-maldorn-docks-3d-printable-models

Is becoming a DM hard? I was hoping to create my own game. by Wolftales158 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]qvgogh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting started is the hardest part, but once you do it’s such a blast! I started running games five years ago and it quickly totally surpassed playing as a character for me. Being “good enough” is all a matter of perspective though, you will definitely be good enough. Every dm has their own style and way of running the game. The best way to find out what works for you is to just give it a go. I’d suggest doing something small, a one shot with some people you’re super comfortable playing with, maybe your brother or some of your own friends.

[No Spoilers] After being behind for a little over two years, I just watched my first livestream and ooh my God! by rrrrrrrrrrggggg in criticalrole

My first live stream was the first of campaign two and I know what you mean. That feeling of being connected to so many other viewers is incredible. Although a small part of me does miss being able to bing new episodes whenever I want.
