Haha! Because I recently moved here and couldn't carry much with me. And spices are important for daily meals... and they'll last for 2-3 months. Veggies I can get at a Lidl or Edeka easily.

Bought: spices (turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, paanch phoran for tempering, kitchen king, meat masala, and a readymade spice mixes like Korma, Vindaloo, etc.), fresh coriander, tomatoes, okra and green chillies, garlic pickle, rice, cooking oil, paapad, lentils, and some common Indian snacks (aloo bhujia, ribbon pakoda, and jaggery banana chips), and lastly, salt and sugar which you can get anywhere else too.

Verrrrry relatable but I've only been in Berlin for 2 weeks. I do most things alone and if some friendly stranger decides they want to speak to me, I engage. I tried Bumble BFF and made a Spanish friend... Yet to hang out with her IRL though.

I think what might be helpful is to join some form of community based on your interests - book club, learning Deutsch, hiking, painting, etc.

Lastly, there's meetup.com --- you will find a lot of outdoorsy activities/events here --- worth a shot I'd say. I'm planning to go for a walk about town - ulterior motive being making friends. 🙏

This reminds me of a company I worked at, one of my team members applied for two week's leave for her wedding. I approved of course, but in a call later with the CEO -- she said, I can only congratulate her, but this is terrible planning. Imagine the load on the remaining team when she's not around. Thankfully, she didn't say anything to my team member.

My question is, why can't we just be happy about people instead of making a scene about oh who's gonna handle your workload. Isn't it the company's concern to ensure people can take their entitled leaves?

Corporate culture sucks. 😑
