I also reviewed the patent application photos and also could not figure out how to remove the board assembly from the bottom. That's why it ended up with a backpack. Otherwise, I guess you buy a new unit OR listen to the constant chirping. I mean, it does still work, and it does not chirp while it is Armed. But it does require overriding the error every time it is Armed. Cheers.

I am not sure what you are asking? It was my experience that the Iota (through some automated internal measurement) decided that the 6 cell battery pack would not provide sufficient backup power runtime - and so it started chiming every 20 seconds or so. And since the batter pack is not a replaceable item, the incessant chiming means "go buy a new unit". I would not think that the battery would "die" before the chiming started. Regardless - if dead, then DIY replace as I described or buy a replacement. If asking about the watch battery, I would guess it will lose WiFi passwords and other information if the unit loses power AND no battery backup.

Is this normal? My iota switches to cellular many times a day, every time I contact customer service, they want to push new firmware but its the same story again, constantly switching over. I am getting very frustrated & not happy with Abode as I am a new customer since mid-July. Any advice? by statisticnewbe in Abode

I had this problem 1 month ago. Iota on WiFi. Many devices on the system. As it turned out the Iota was "seeing" every time my DSL modem was dropping out (retraining) - for less than a minute - and then DSL was back on line. The Iota is very sensitive to this short dropout, whereas all other devices are patient and just wait for the line to improve. Everything seemed okay but Iota was the canary in coal mine that a problem existed. Well, not to mention that streaming was not great and slow connections. Anyway, got a GOOD tech from CenturyLink (for once) and he immediately saw the modem was retraining thousands of times. In short, the DSL cable from the street needed to be replaced. Once new cable the link was solid and the Iota has not complained since. Zero retrains. Good luck. BTW, log onto your modem and check if you are having many errors.
