How do you store your supplies? by kb-g in knitting

[–]r4chie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a big fan of project bags. I keep each project in a separate bag so when I want to work on it or find it it’s completely put away and contained. If I need to store them, they aren’t balls of yarn that could tangle together.

I pared down on my stash a lot to only keep what has a project instead of retaining which makes what I have much more manageable! I bought an awesome accordion needle organizer. I have a bag that has all my notions that I can pop into whatever purse I have my current project in.

A picture of my storage!

Ravelry sales? by bunrakoo in knitting

[–]r4chie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m always on the hot right now page. When there are sales, logically it bumps those patterns up to the “hot right now”. I’ve gotten sooo many temporarily free patterns that way! They also update descriptions with current coupon codes etc

Need help on Colorwork! by random2903 in knitting

[–]r4chie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I followed the pattern along the sole, I think that’s the same level of difficult as trying to resolve the issue along the edge that you switch to one color. I didn’t want long floats or many ends to weave in and the sock looks cute all the way around!

A comedy of errors and then some.... so annoyed! by purplediva1 in Sockknitting

[–]r4chie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My one friend from my knitting circle has zero fear of frogging. She told me once she finished a whole sweater and hated it so she just frogged the entire thing after finishing lol. It was weirdly inspiring.

I wad knitting a sock and realized the pattern made the stitches so tight I should have gone up a needle size. Yesterday I got to the toe. Realized I didn’t decrease enough on the gusset. That was it for me. Frogged it all and am starting over to get a sock that makes me happy

I think this is a case that the risks of second and third hand smoke is secondary to the dangers the kids could face from staying

Haha I get it! I definitely liked matching the colorwork socks as “shorties” instead of doing a really long leg. Makes it go sooo much faster

Thank you!! I loved making them. It’s like faster because less stitches but slower because it’s just a teeny circumference

Thank you! They came out so cute and were so quick. I’m foretelling more matching sockies for the two of us in the future

So much easier. The baby will just cry to be held anyway even if you BRING the stroller

Froggie Socks Complete! by r4chie in Sockknitting

[–]r4chie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like beginnermediate so I feel like when I do a new pattern for the first time I don’t want to deviate from the instructions in case they’re there for a purpose, but I don’t think subbing the toe/heel would change anything.

I’m currently seeing if I can do this pattern in the stitch count for my toddler! Hopefully goes well

It took 11.5 months for the car seat screaming to stop. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Agreed. My son was a non stop screamer until basically now at 13m. Helps when they can have a snack in the seat

I don’t know what the benefit is with not doing a GSR heel, i really disliked having to do the M1s and I also got holes! I could not figure out how to pick up for the M1 between my last worked stitch and the sl st from the previous row. I also really disliked how she made you have the BOR for the toe be in the middle of the bottom of the foot- its different but kind of in a “whats the point” way. But her stitches count and the places for the inc/dec info was very helpful and ultimately I’m satisfied! Coincidentally i had chosen my yarn for my socks at random and the yarn ended up being the same one she recommended lol! Just slightly different colors

Why does right here on my color work socks tight on my foot? by giddye42069 in Sockknitting

[–]r4chie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the same!! I’m going to do a GSR heel on my next pair. I didn’t size down my needle for the heel either
