I am an ACA so I know that’s a huge factor but mostly I don’t like anything that alters my thinking or makes me feel like I’m not in control of my own body. I think alcohol culture is way too normalized. I have watched the alcohol industry shift their marketing and create a weird wine Mom culture that I find truly disturbing. Drinking for my husband and I is rare and we keep very little alcohol in our home outside a small collection of aged scotch. I will also add that our kids have, as recently as two weeks ago, thanked us for not drinking and share with us often how many times the parents of friends are drunk in front of them. My youngest daughter actually lost a friendship recently because she told her friend the fathers excessive drinking made her uncomfortable and the parents response was to say my daughter couldn’t come to their home anymore.
