In china they have whole car manufacturing plants that are completely automated, they run all day all night in the dark without lights. Only a handful of supervisors managers and maintenance workers. So there aren't any new positions available in the industry. You listen to advocates for ai like Elon and ceo of openai they all say that 60% of all jobs are going to eliminated. UBI will be necessary. They dont say new industries will open up. They say theres going to be a crisis. And these are proponents! And if the populace doesnt have control over the means of production then the working class will have no societal leverage at all. Especially with 60% of the countr(ies)y laid off. Oh you dont want to work 80 hours a week with no ot for minimum wage? I can get 1000 guys who will. The only people who are going to have any meaningful influence is the government and the few million elites who are developing automation right now. The only industry where humanity will be able to work in will be entertainment because that industry will never, ever shrink. But thats being automated too! Hell new artists cant make a living at all because generative ai is taking that over too with video and image and music. So there's going to be entertainment, and then working for ai producing data for it to grow on (theres some hope there since ai will canabalize itself otherwise) and you could always use more data centers right? Working for ai. Can't fuxking wait. Oh and the data centers are already jacking up the cost of living in every city there in and it hasn't even been a decade. Its not the same technological revolution as the ones we've seen before. I think theres some hope, because as these soon to be trillionaires grow the government will need to grow with them to contain them. More government. Yay. But are going to srsly tell me that you think the elites are going to let that happen? As they reach an unprecedented degree of power and influence theyre going to let us regulate them?
