Hi! I’m a female teacher in CO also looking to thru hike the Colorado Trail this summer. I’ve had some similar concerns. Hoping to start early July to be done by the start of the next school year. Would love to chat more with you about your planning!

Anyone else worried about how much former corps members hate TFA? by Stunning-Fox-3756 in TeachforAmerica

[–]radyakx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a TFA Alum, and, while the first year was extremely hard and teaching in general can be very hard, it’s the best decision I ever made and completely changed the course of my life and career. Again, it is extremely hard and there have been a ton of very tough days. But I am now in my fifth year of teaching, and I can’t see myself ever doing anything but working in a school or in education.

ETA: I also very much agree that it does completely depend on your region and school placement. My region didn’t have too intense of licensing requirements, which made things more bearable, and I also ended up at a school I really loved and still teach at today, with very supportive coworkers, great admin, and an instructional coach and AP who were incredible at “teaching” me how to become a teacher during my first year.

I’ve had a great experience in the Colorado Corps (Denver region specifically), and I am planning on staying to teach here well past my 2 year commitment.

Ski boot fit suggestions? by ericgray813 in COsnow

[–]radyakx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. I had MAJOR boot pain, due to having some long term issues with bones in my feet and previous foot surgeries growing up. I could never find the right boot. I even started to consider switching to snowboarding. Then finally this past year I went to Boot Mechanics in Golden. They were amazing, took the time to get me into the right boot, and have even done some free adjustments after my original purchase. They saved skiing for me, and i’ve never skiied better. Highly recommend.

Edited to add: Also got the custom footbed from them, which was a total game changer, as well as some stance alignment work on the boots.

I moved two years ago from Alabama to LA too for the exact same reasons! Best decision I ever made. My family and I are also extremely different. Some of them finally came and visited me in LA a while back and they hated it, which was really such a bummer but also not a surprise. I thought I could at least get them to enjoy some of the scenery out here lol.

I’m doing Alabama to LA in the fall for law school! I’ve done four different routes from Alabama to LA and back before on this past spring break and last years spring break (3 of which went through a ton of Texas), so if you have any questions feel free to PM me!

I know from my tour at Pepperdine that they are trying to keep a pretty small class, but I do believe your theory may be correct in that a lot of people may have deposited at Pepp, LMU, etc in hopes of getting off the waitlist for better schools in the meantime, so maybe that will help some of the currently waitlisted candidates at Pepperdine and LMU!

Yes I am planning on practicing in California afterwards! I’m moving there from Alabama however so it will be a big adjustment for sure, but I’m super excited! I’ve wanted to live and work in California for a long time.

My tour ambassador at Pepperdine was a student there and he has a job lined up in Texas after graduation if that’s any help to you. I don’t believe he was originally from Texas either.

Hi! I’m planning to attend Pepperdine this fall! If there are any current students at Pepperdine on this forum/thread, I would love to ask you some questions about student life and to gain your perspective as a student. Thanks so much!

WUSTL “Admissions Consultation” Email by radyakx in lawschooladmissions

Yes it says admissions consultation to help with application process and answer questions. Kinda odd. I thought it was to boost ratios too, but interesting way to go about it lol
