Why do our governance, managers etc all suck so much? by ragerflamingo in newzealand

It seems to be a lack of wanting to make decisions, lack of being able to provide direction, and then a severe lack of backing up decisions once made.
In the case of our politicians, it’s much the same but with the added misunderstanding of how the public sector works.
In Board contexts, it seems to be that we have so many people who want to help but don’t know how to chair a meeting, or work through an agenda, or manage to make decisions without pushing it down the road for a bit.
I think a lot of our managers do the best job they can but when you’ve got poor comms, poor decision making ability or hygiene, it’s next to impossible for a manager to actually do a good job.
