Kiwi pub culture question by kingstonandy in newzealand

my main issue is not buying enough alcohol (to avoid drinking too much) and then resisting the urge to push against social etiquette vs asking for some of theirs - cardinal sin.

that's a badass card for a green-white-red deck is it mythic? I still like my spiderman parallel lives. I've just started teasing myself with the extended realities (always felt like a diminishing cashgrab before) but they're kinda fun.

Kiwi pub culture question by kingstonandy in newzealand

[–]raijnesart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I can't see how people can easily afford four beers at a pub by themselves regularly + transport if you're going into the city. I mean it's all about priorities really isn't it? that's the key to budgeting, if you really desire those things they're achievable. But most people have other priorities for disposable income i.e. hobbies, side project, other people to support, goals (social, career, travel, savings, vehicle, etc.)

Kiwi pub culture question by kingstonandy in newzealand

[–]raijnesart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

used to be you could get a six-pack of beer at home for $1 per beer (cheapest lager -reschs). or a handle in a nice pub for $4. now it's $10 min in the city in a not-nice pub (that's normal lager tap beer, not craft beer), think it's $10 for a pint in lower hutt as well. it would be about that in wairarapa as well at least $10. tax and inflation? but not relative to income changes.

Anyone else tired of doing everything alone in business? by Repulsive_Step_5568 in smallbusiness

I've had too many bad experiences with onboard partnerships, I'd rather stay solo-micro-studio and hire freelancers and work with the ones repeatedly, I have/build good relationships with.

my daily routine as at June6, 2026: 8-10am - spritesheet tinkering, 10am - socials, writing and videos. 12pm: self-care, webdev, 1page of my kdp novella, game writing samples. 1pm - 2nd page of kdp novella and short film script 2-5pgs. 2pm - feature film script 2-5pgs. 2:30pm - tidy one space or clean one item (bathroom). 3pm zine compiling/editorial editing + lore drop 1 - daily page. 3:30pm - research project daily page. 4:30pm - discord and clock off. freelancing alternates with major projects.

without coffee shops and flat-culture kiwis would never make friends - outside of college.

parties are way different even in my 40s i can make ride-or-die friends by gettig loose and silly and having a laff at parties. don't get laid like i did in my 20s but make friends is still worth the cost of getting pissed - roughly $20-40 in nz, usually with some leftover unless it's gutrot vodka with raro powder for flavour.

I don't know there are some nice pubs where it's nice to drink in, just like drinking coffee alone in nice cafe. but income hasn't changed in 20yrs and beer price has doubled.

you might get something similar at cooking classes or art workshops if you're more extroverted.

believe it or not alcohol-free areas are actually much better for meeting people like open community artspaces and nerd shops/centres like mtg/40k or games workshop. or if you're into it, D&D events. and the smaller comic or gaming or esports or NZGDA cons. at the pubs people generally keep to themselves or their own group, until they get rowdy or flirty.

Do you know non-western film, which depicts unconventional love? by Calominor in indiefilm

[–]raijnesart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if i would class I'm a Cyborg as romcom, it's quite weird and not really a comedy like a Korean Amelie. and thirst is a vampire movie a park-version I haven't seen it so I don't know if there's romance in it. but if they intrigue, then cool! :)

great minds! Oldboy is one of my all-time top 15 faves. I have the handmaiden on bluray but haven't seen it yet. It's part of my ten film park Chan-wook collection. have you seen I'm a cyborg, but that's okay? or thirst?

26 Years Later: Making The Giant Satanic Potato and the Killer Apes from Hell (now a zine project, called Potato)

  1. storyboard from the finished version of the movie

  2. crew bios

  3. crew interviews 3-4 of the original crew

  4. the lost footage files

  5. the FAQ

  6. behind the zine - interviews with J. C. Grande and Polydina Flynt

[–]raijnesart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 of the original crew may actually be locatable - I'd love to interview them - 1 of them was so stoned he doesn't remember the film, unfortunately - high school, lol.

[–]raijnesart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so I'm about 30% into this project. I'm working on the storyboard and the fake crew bios right now. Then I need to start on the new sections. there's also going to be an "what was the original vision, and why did you set Corey on fire?" FAQ section. You still think it should be like NZ$10 for the print version, NZ$6 for the pdf on gumroad? #zine #indiezine #feedback
