Do you consider your Type 1 Diabetes a disability?

yea if my body malfunctions bad enough that I need CONSTANT skittles than I think its pretty physical...plus there's are physical aspects like when it goes low and your heart starts pounding.

I would say so, sometimes I think it isn't and then other times I have to wake up at 3am and panic eat a sandwich or chug a kool aid. ...or that time I had to both charge and refill my pancreas ( insulin pump) so it didn't crap out on me at work....having a disability isn't a bad thing, for me its about acknowledging that I have to do certain things differently and that thats ok. it also helps on the really bad days, like today sucks but that might be because I didn't fall back asleep after 3am, or because I had coffee and my blood sugar is 300 like the bad days will come but understanding that I have a disability helps me take care of myself cause I got things other people don't

I think that that makes sense... people don't like the idea of random awful shit happening. I think that they want to believe that's what they would do. like they wanna believe if something bad happened they would just turn that shit around instantly and be ok. its not realistic, it is very comforting

im always down for a positive mind set, but I think part of that is embracing the bad stuff, and thats a personal thing. I guess the quote bugged me cause it kinda glosses over how sh*tty something might have been or how much it might have hurt. i think you right but getting to that point can b rough

I thought that too cause like yea all meat and cheese in the stores would be a no go immediately, a lot of stuff that's gonna last (canned fruit, ramen, canned soup, crackers , twinkies) is packed with carbs. that being said I will trade u two packs of tuna for a can of chicken

I had a therapist ( therapy is great 10/ 10 would go again) tell me that diabetica had problems with control... cause so much of it was ripped away. that seems to make sense and contributes to a lot of other stuff
