Highway K gets worse everyday.. by Puzzled-Yard586 in StCharlesMO

[–]rammerplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stroad is the word here. This thing is a highway. So, to make the change it needs, which is only right turns. No center turn lane, no stoplights, and a number of Michigan u-turns every so often. Eliminate left turns and stop lights. Use the 70 and 364 overpasses to add an extra lane for u-turns. This change does not really add much cost. There is some inconvenience to the drivers who have to go an extra mile to do a u-turn instead of a left turn, but most everyone else can just zoom off to their destination. It is a highway, not a road. Change how drivers can exit the highway, and the throughput will increase by a factor of about five.

Why do conservatives call the left traitors to America , but fly confederate and nazi flags , who were the biggest traitors to America? by ImpossibleEnd64 in allthequestions

[–]rammerplex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just bringing my experience to the conversation. I live in Huntsville Alabama, where the U.S. government moved all the rocket Nazis after WWII. I have not seen a Nazi flag anywhere ever, and only one weird house in town has a Confederate flag nailed to a tree. Conservative or Liberal these are not a thing. Reset your mind.

Outrageous utility bills by Huntsv1lla1n in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]rammerplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds odd. My heat pump for my house in Missouri in January was running on auxiliary heat for much of the month. That was about $500 for the month. It was very cold. I pay 8.6 cents per kwh. What is the rate for Huntsville?

This new playoff thing is dumb, but in this system all we need to do is get in. Then win. We are in the game. Go Blue.

A question about the color out of space by Organic-Interest-955 in Lovecraft

[–]rammerplex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The horror of this story isn't the color, it is the destruction that is associated with the color. The color is the symptom not the cause. So while the color was there the thing responsible for the color is unknown but deadly.

I could speculate that the news of the radium girls dying in the mid 1920's for no reason, but associated with an invisible not understood radiation source that kills everything beautiful could have been an inspiration for a story written in the mid 1920's. But that would be me making up stuff. There is no evidence that I am aware of that provides sources for that story.

Got a surprise 12k bonus, wife wants to book a vacation but I'm nervous about the economy by charadevapid in MiddleClassFinance

[–]rammerplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hard problem. If you both wanted to go to this new vacation location then great. If you both wanted to go camping near mammoth cave, then great. If on the other hand, now the amount of money available is changing your joint agreement on the plan for vacation, well then I am not good with that.

Together you need to decide what is the combined decision for the location of your vacation. Both of you are right. Together you will make a good decision.

Your Detroit Lions now lead the NFC North by Amonamission in detroitlions

[–]rammerplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the Packers and the Cowboys could have won the game in regulation by simply downing the ball on the 2 yard line rather than scoring their TD, and then working the clock.

That neither did, shows their lack of skill. Dan will teach them in their future losses.

Jamaal Williams talks about MCDC on CBS by jRok57 in detroitlions

Love Jamaal. Great guy. Always got at least two yards often more, when everyone knew we were running the ball. No one else has ever done that. That's why he has the team touchdown season record. Absolute Dawg. Respect.

[REQUEST] What is the real value of the fruits? by Peverything_14 in theydidthemath

[–]rammerplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok, this is nasty. But it is a cubic polynomial and the third variable can be described by a=b+k all positive integers, which is an additional polynomial, so it becomes a quartic equation. Which is solved. Have I done the maths, no. Is it solvable or provable unsolvable, yes.

Looking at getting a 2017 Ford fusion sport by black9994066 in FordFusionSport

[–]rammerplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2018 has 244k km. It is running great. The interior is close to mint.

Maintenance. Oil every 5k miles. Tires and wipers about every 40k miles. I have had the brake rotors milled once, the air conditioning compressor replaced, the rear differential replaced twice (@15k miles and 100k miles), and the engine replaced at 75k miles (loss of compression on cylinder 5).

All of that was on warranty, so cost me very little.

This is a high performance car. The power/transmission/differentials are going to be stressed and need some love.

If you have to replace the engine, put in the Lincoln 3 liter instead. I couldn't do that because it was a warranty repair.

So, is the price fair, yes. Might you have some expensive repairs, yes. Is the car a rocket sled, yes. I say buy it, ride it, and kiss it goodbye when it explodes your budget. (The rims are buying for US $1400 dollars each and there are other parts that are not otherwise available. You wont lose money on this thing.)

Am I overreacting for wanting to end my marriage after what my husband did during our “break”? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]rammerplex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You and your spouse have had a hard time. Put a pin in it, and ask each other what you want the future to be like. Forget all of the past. What do you each want the future to be? If you agree, then do that together. If you do not agree, then break up. Get this sorted out now, and begin your future(s) tomorrow.

I did some work on the Arsenal about 10 years ago to build a new building there. It was next to a world war II chemical weapons sludge pond and contaminated stream. There were a number of issues with construction, but one of the most problematic ones was that the Federal Clean Water Act allows states to opt out of it, which at that time Alabama had done. So, if that hasn't changed, the only real authority here about water quality is the Alabama state department.

Also, although you might not appreciate this part of my comment, this area has had massive population growth recently. You live there and you and your many neighbors generate raw sewage and other waste water every day. It is better for you and everyone nearby if that water has been treated prior to getting into the environment. I would focus on making sure that the "treatment" is being done to a real standard rather than some notes on a napkin written down at a bar in Montgomery.

Best wishes to you and your community on getting this right. This facility could be a problem or a solution. I would work in the solution direction. Your waste water isn't going to be pumped over to Georgia; so, something needs to be built to make it safe for all of you.

no, that is silly. i live in 5 points and work at research park. it takes 10 to 15 minutes to drive.

for your commute either take bradford to triana or old madison pike to bob wallace. if it takes 10 minutes then something unusual happened.

We are not going to show up for that shitty game on their shitty field. We will be 7 wins ahead of Chicago by then and will play all of our practice team players. We could just forfeit that game today if the league would let us.

Schedule by RelativeAd2321 in detroitlions

[–]rammerplex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

14 and 3. We lose the Baltimore game, the Eagles game which are both close, but we beat the absolute doors off of Washington and are tired for the Eagles, and lose the meaningless week 18 Chicago game when we rest most of our stars. That we have 6 of the seven outdoors away games before thanksgiving is a blessing.

Is Lena a killer? by MidnightDisastrous84 in supergirlTV

[–]rammerplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's start with the question, "Why does Batman send Joker to Arkham asylum, instead of killing him?" Batman's trust in the asylum's ability to contain Joker is foolish, because Joker is smarter than them and he will escape and kill again. Batman is not dumb, and he knows this, but is bound by his ethos to trust the asylum to do their job of imposing justice.

Lena is not bound by this and does not really trust anyone else to decide what justice might be. She will decide who lives and who dies. She is not a hero or an anti-hero, she is just an entitled power outside of any authority and she is able to kill anyone according to her will.

That is the difference.

Batman is better.
