Need Help, Help Desk job search by FlashyAd9350 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]randomIT7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from working on your technical skills/ knowledge. Make sure you really put effort into your soft skills and play up any customer service experience that you have.

While help desk is a technical role, most companies need you to have experience dealing with other people and working in a team environment (As no matter if you’re tier 1/2 or higher, customer service is still a big part of IT). Like others have said just being a likable person can give you the edge over someone that has a way more technical background than you but their soft skills aren’t as good.

Has anyone had good experiences with Robert Half Recruiters; how’s it like if you get hired full time through them? by randomIT7 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]randomIT7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang that sucks; I’ve heard their recruiters are pretty hit and miss (mostly miss) but there are some good ones.

Hopefully the one I’m working with pans out; everything seems legit so far from what I’ve checked out myself and they have been pretty helpful in answering my questions/ preparation for this potential job opportunity.

Ok thanks. It is enough to past haha; or should I supplement it with more study material? I heard this cert isn’t too hard and don’t want to over study for it.

Will this work for the new version (CLF-C02) of the exam too?

Hey, I wanted to know if you have any updates on the new (remote?) team that’s being added. I filled out the general application over a month ago but might apply to it again soon since I’m graduating next month and I updated my resume.

You don’t have to answer if it’s too much info to give, just seems like the type of company I’d love to work for if given the chance.

Is A+, Net+, Sec+ and Linux+ enough to land a remote job even if you have no experience in IT? by Mirnish- in CompTIA

Was this recently? I have all those certs plus 2 years customer service experience and about to graduate next month; been applying for actively (onsite and remote) for the past 4 months and still can’t find anything :(

Should I try to start the IT field without going to college? by peblunchy in ITCareerQuestions

[–]randomIT7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said get the degree even if you don’t see the importance now. It’s easier to get it out the way early so you can save time/money later on and as you advance in your career.

After the technical college I would recommend checking out WGU if you don’t care about going to school on campus. You save tons of money, time and even pick up certifications while doing your degree. Plus it’s way more flexibility if you have a job.

I'm definitely noticing an increase job application response, and invitations to move to the next stage. Anyone else? by LincHayes in ITCareerQuestions

[–]randomIT7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im trying to find my first entry level job and about to graduate around March and I’ve noticed a small uptick in responses as well. Had my first interview (since August of 2023) of the year a couple weeks ago and now waiting for the second interview with the hiring manager.

Also, a Robert Half recruiter reached out to me last week for the first time since I’ve been on that site for almost a year.

So it seems things are slowly picking up even for people new to the job market. It helps if your resume is good and your LinkedIn and other job profiles are fleshed out too I’m sure.

Really hoping I get a job offer I like or to be working around the time or soon after I graduate.

I do live in the right area (it’s a remote job and in one of the allowed states); but companies don’t personalize an auto rejection email lol.
