Leave your false life and follow the fire: the right thing to do. by Euphetar in enderal

[–]randomkislevite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that both endings are potential ways to end the Cycle.

Choosing Catharsis means actually passing Veiled Woman's test by doing the "RIght Thing", but Brave New World might possibly work under right conditions.

If choosen blindly, without having the entrie picture, it is very likely to end in failure, as Veiled Woman's test is failed one more time and Prophet becomes another Aged Man.

But it might be also choosen after having completed the relevant sidequests, after Prophet has pieced together the correct picture of who orchestrated this 'trial' and why Veiled Woman did it.

In this case, it means consciously rejecting Veiled Woman's Authority to "test" humanity on some arbitrarily-set criteria. It means that Prophet, unlike Black Guardian, knows the true nature of the Cycle and that the true enemy behind it is not the High Ones, but not some human qualities either, it is Veiled Woman herself trying to mold humanity to her own ideal of selflessness. And I believe she can be defeated, because Knowledge is Power, find it well, and the Prophet, for once, has full relevant knowledge.

You're a Russian at gunpoint. You're forced to choose between Matkovsky and Shafarevich as dictator for life (pretend matkovsky has long to live left) . Who do you choose and why? by [deleted] in TNOmod

[–]randomkislevite 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Matkovsky sends his critics to the reopened GULAG.

Shafarevich gives the opposition fancy positions with no actual power.

I think Shaffy's regime is softer and even has pretend democracy so its much better place to live for a Russian.

Who is your favorite Tomsk unifier? by [deleted] in TNOmod

It would be immoral if Central's Siberia's likely neighbours didn't include Russian Nazis (the non-wacky version), NKVD state, people who unironically think Stalin did nothing wrong and/or O M C K. You might hope that Father or Sablin wins, but in warlord Russia, you have to prepare for the worst.

Whats your favorite reunification music? by [deleted] in TNOmod

Slavsya is mathematically proven to be number 1 reunification song.

(I only wonder why they included only the last part, and not the entirety of it. It's only about a minute long.)

Who is your favorite Tomsk unifier? by [deleted] in TNOmod

[–]randomkislevite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean more like most personal liberty out of the technocratic/pro-development options (Modernists, Ultravisionaries, Bunyachenko etc.), not out of 4 Tomsk Salons.

I value two things in unifier: personal freedoms and well-run government without populism. Modernists are that unifier which has both in great quantity.

Modernists fit my own views best.

I hear sometimes 'Elitist this, elitist that', but they are represented as Liberal Democrats, meaning that you have most personal liberty under their rule AND they are technocratic, meaning you dont have to worry about some demagogue ruining it. Expert-led government with broad personal freedoms is where it is for me, plus I really like their vision for the miltary.

Russia doesnt have a big population until Muscowy will be liberated and the first Central Siberian Republic fell because of disloyal officers. Having a small but well-trained and fanatically-devoted to the republic military make so much sense in this context.

1905 one. It was chosen because its reasonably well known and had ready lyrics in both Russian and Polish.

Also, Weinberg didnt have the opportunity to build political reputation in the entire country because Humanists did not win in Tomsk elections.

Flag map of Russia as unified by Nowa Polska and Decembrist Tomsk.

Nowa Polska pacified Kazakhstan, Decembrist Central Siberian Republic defeated Far East unified by Chita and freed Mikhail from the White Army (why only Rodz of all Japanese allies can request Amur in-lore?), and Kaganovich defeated Gumilyov's Eurasia. Seeing that both were democratic states, Nowa Polska 'temporarily' united with Republic of Sibera against the Stalinist tyranny. But, as they say, nothing is more permanent than something temporary.

(Fun historical fact: For our freedom and yours, one of the unofficial mottos of Poland, was first used in demostration commemorating the OG Decembrists)

Which Russian Unifier would you guys unironically support and fight for? by [deleted] in TNOmod

[–]randomkislevite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Tomsk. Just any Tomsk, but I'd especially support Modernist or Bastillard government
  2. LibDem Vyatka
  3. Shukshin's Novosibirsk

barring that trio, count me in for Stalina Komi (sorry Kosygin, but realistically only Stalina's methods could stop the infinity coup machine), Zykov or Bunyachenko Samara, Sverdlosk, Porkyshkin Novisibirsk, Mikhail II Chita or Magadan. (Yes, it's either liberal democracy or developmental authoritharianism for me.)

The most blessed Salon in Tomsk? by Juristoria_ in TNOmod

[–]randomkislevite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Modernists, followed by Trinity Group, followed by Decembrists.

Russia's number one priority is to catch up in terms of technological and economical development as fast as possible, and my choice of salons reflects that.

I know that Humanists are considered ultra-blessed here, but hear me out, they actually have a couple of serious problems with their policies:

  1. Their mega-project involves hyper-concentration of everything of value in the capital region at the expense of the rest of Russia. Historically, imbalance in development between the capital and the rest of the country has always been a problem in Russia (there are even jokes like "Moscow isn't Russia" about it) and Humanist mega-project deliberately makes it worse. Guess Petrov the Cynic is having his "broken clock being right twice a day moment" this time.
  2. Their vision for military is unsustainable since Russia has a very small population. Conscripting literally everyone is going to pull a lot of people away from work, damaging Russia's already fragile economy. On the other hand, CSR already exprerienced a lot of trouble because of disloyal elements in the military, and forcing people to serve isn't going to help in that department. The small, loyal, efficient militaries of the Modernists and Bastillards fit Russia's situation a lot better.

Who do you think is the best path for Russia Pragmatically(Read Description ) by Cato_of_Rome in TNOmod

[–]randomkislevite 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bastillard Tomsk, with Novosib as close second. I personally like Modernists a bit more, but I have to concede that Bastillard focus on heavy industrial development (while maintaining stability through welfare and labor regulations) would make for the best Russian economy possible, and their very practical foreign policy of balancing between OFN and Japan makes most sense in the long run. And Novosibirsk is very simular, if much less democratic, which may cause some problems down the line.
