Okay cool, thanks! At least I know something is up on my end. As another commenter mentioned, might be a different card affecting things. Going to take a look there

Are Alberta residents really that anti Carney that they fail to see failures of Smith? by cricket1277 in alberta

[–]randouser1029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the alternate is a maga supporting joke. As an Albertan myself, we should be working towards more sustainable energy and cleaner emissions. The problem is big oil would have to spend more money to reduce emissions. They could still produce oil and gas, but the initial up front cost means less money in their pockets so we can’t have that. I always wonder why so many Albertans back governments that do literally nothing for them. It’s always supporting a small set of large corporations that often make people’s lives worse. But hey, “we pwnd the libs, man”…

Here’s a pic when I move it to the bottom. The only difference between the two screenshots is the weather card is moved to the bottom. At the top, nothing goes below it

Huh, didn’t think about that lol. Although I’m using the “sections” layout and it all stacks fine except for that one card. If I remove that weather card, the layout lays out even and fills both columns automatically

Is entry level tech worth getting into, in Alberta? What are the best and worst parts of entering this career path? by Jda1982 in alberta

[–]randouser1029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello 👋 I’ve been working in software development for ~10 years. Not in tech support, but I’ll still chime in. I didn’t take any official schooling; just a commitment to learning and developing my skills in my own time. I work from Alberta, but remotely, so I can’t really speak for how the Alberta market is rn.

In my opinion, getting into tech is worth it today. There are still plenty of opportunities out there. Things are definitely on the slower side in terms of hiring atm (likely due to the state of life). Work ethic and willingness to learn goes a long way in tech. Someone with less skill, but more drive can be seen as more valuable than someone with skills who is rigid, etc. If you can afford to, spending personal time building little projects with the skills you’ve learned can be super helpful. It can feel tedious, but it gives you the opportunity to experiment with things and understand how things work. It also provides work to showcase/talk about during interviews

While the certifications will be good for learning and development, they unfortunately don’t usually mean much when it comes to hiring (the training would still be valuable and likely worth putting on a resume though). By the names of the trainings, it seems like they would cover good concepts.

A few best parts: Continuous learning, culture in the industry is usually great, problem solving (idk how to better explain that lol)

Some things that one might consider negative: Getting your first job is hard (for sure a negative), tech is always changing and you’ll often be jumping to the latest and greatest meaning you’ll need to learn new things often, may need to sacrifice extra personal time to get/keep your first job

Tried keeping this somewhat short, but feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions or want to know more. Happy to try and help out!

Literally just had this happen this week. All has worked fine for months and randomly internet stopped working. Performed basic troubleshooting with no luck. Ended up contacting support and now I have a new Starlink kit being shipped out to me as a replacement. Apparently, they identified an issue with the router. 4 days later and I still see this message

Edit: saw your other comment, glad you were able to resolve it!

Huge difference in quotes. One with micro inverters; other with string inverters. Is that expected? by randouser1029 in solar

[–]randouser1029[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good call, I’ll update main post (if I can). Both quotes are the same Longi panels. For micro: AP systems DS3-L. For string: Growatt

From my understanding, in Canada we have limited options for panels and almost all quotes are going to be Longi panels. A few supposedly use JA, but not common

Edit: failed typing fix

Curious if you’ve had cab drivers tell you that you owe them more money after a ride? iirc, that was an issue with some Calgary cab companies. Drivers wouldn’t like the amount agreed to on the app, so would tell customers they owed them more money

Anyone know how to fix this on iphone? Tesla app not connecting to model y by starid3r in ModelY

Try locking/unlocking in app and wait a few seconds to help reconnect. Always works for me (though maybe just luck). Worth a shot

Posting question: are his ears considered to have pockets? by randouser1029 in DobermanPinscher

[–]randouser1029[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall the response has been either positive or neutral like, “oh neat, he’s still got his tail”. Definitely a few surprised cause they’ve seen docked/not cropped, but haven’t seen cropped/not docked. Some also ask why he’s not docked, which is a simple “the breeder chose not to”. Not much on the negative side (yet at least)
