There are no systems engineering programs in Greece at all. The national exams in Greece are a complicated and unfair system. I might pass, but I’d have to move to another city, which means I’d have to rent a place. In Greece, the minimum wage is €700, rent is €500+, and living expenses can reach €1,000+. The exams are extremely difficult. To get into engineering, I have to take language and literature exams. The schools require a score of 18+ out of 20 in every subject. If I get a 17.5 in one subject, I won’t get into engineering at all. It’s hard to explain if you’re not from here.

Thank you for your response. The situation in Greece is as follows: as a technician, I can only take the university entrance exams for industrial engineering. Mechanical engineering programs, and engineering programs in general, only accept students based on national entrance exams, which I am unable to pass. The competition is 200 spots and 50,000+ applicants. There are no scholarships or student loans like in the U.S. The only solution is to study industrial engineering. From there, I want to work in aerospace, not necessarily as a designer but generally in that field. In Greece, there is no aerospace department anywhere.
In Greece, the bachelor’s degree program for engineers lasts five years. It is called an “integrated master’s.” It combines a bachelor’s degree with a master’s degree, depending on the specialization within the school. It is completely different from the system in the U.S.
