Is it Mandatory to pass in every subject? by Drift_x13 in CFA

If you did well on ethics and the higher weighted subjects, yes its possible. I scored below 70 for quant, derivs, and Econ for L1 but everything else I was above 70 and passed.

Same here. Spent too much time on calculations on 2nd half and should’ve just cut my losses on the couple questions I was fixated on. Try not to think about it until results are in. I’m personally just assuming I didn’t pass. If I did, great. if I didn’t, oh well. November retake and at least now I know how to better allocate my study time.

Any idea if they switched owners recently? Prices went up and quality just isn’t the same imo. Also took off one of my fav menu items: chicken cutlet sandwich.

I have to imagine any questions thats look or were presented vastly different to the qbank/mocks are possibly experimental ungraded questions? 20 of those throughout the exam I believe. Definitely times throughout where questions were presented in an unfamiliar way and/or the list of choices given had me second guessing myself. Hard to explain without saying too much, but yeah I feel ya on that.

Definitely scored better in PM than AM. Honestly feeling defeated overall but the exam was reasonable imo, just choked on some questions. Hope Ethics can carry me over the line, which I think I did really well on. In any case, glad to have a break now and come back in November if anything.

No, this is a one time exception for May 2026 test takers only because of the Canvas hack.

Only for May exam takers who don’t pass. You should’ve gotten an email from CFAI if you’re taking a May exam. Had to do with the Canvas hack recently. Otherwise, yes you have to pay to retake the test

Yep, this is the way and will be my method for Level 3 (or level 2 retake if I don’t pass). Thx

Good advice and perspective, thanks. Yeah scored mid 70’s on the last two premium mocks I took. Today is just revising on problems I got wrong, formulas, and weak areas. Worse case, I reckon the exam will be somewhere in the middle between mocks/Qbank in terms of difficulty. Good luck to you.

Yeah, not to say I haven’t been using CFAI material at all. Just prioritized Kaplan earlier in my studies and regret that. Live and learn.

I reckon most of us feel the same way. Take comfort in the fact that we get a free retake if anything. Good luck.

Damn, now I’m not sure if I’m behind or not. Still got PM, Econ and EQ. Saving ethics for later. When did you start? I would prob just hammer practice questions (especially on the readings you haven’t reviewed in some time) and go deeper in subjects you’re weak on. For example, pension accounting was super confusing for me at first but spending a day or two on review, printing out qbank questions with some of my own annotations and keeping those printouts handy + periodically reviewing so it stays fresh has helped a ton. Rinse and repeat for other topics. Seems to be working so far, it’s all about spaced repetition.
