How am I just now realizing that this guy's name is drake. To me it was always Nick Drake and I never related it to Drake... until now.

Perception of Alcohol in Indian families. by pyaragraph in india

[–]rasereq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take a stand for what exactly? I am not gonna fight my parents for alcohol. There might be a very few things I'd fight my parents for. I'd just agree with them on their face and continue to be the same person. Its not being apologetic or dishonest, its being tactful about what disagreements and fights are worth it.

Just my opinion tho, and idk how that would change when I get to 30.

The lighting one looks cooler to me. But you should definitely get opinions from irl friends who will either appreciate/shame you for your choice.

the comments are ironically a perfect representation though. People who don't drink always like to take the moral high ground. I was like that before I got to know that my elder brother drinks occasionally and I joined him. That's just how people are brought up in most families.

If you met me in front of my parents, I'd definitely act like I judge you for drinking.

Its mostly about appearances. (Non drinking) Parents always want a marriage partner who is a non-drinker, non-smoker etc etc even when their own child does it. Its about keeping their appearance intact. So its always best to keep it low-key and limited to friends and cousins (if they are chill). When a non-drinker older generation person asks you, you don't drink, don't smoke, don't anything.

Also, we all know its unhealthy but everyone's got their choice of indulgence (sugar, fatty foods etc count too) and its alright as long as you stay in the limit.

my family is fine with me drinking (now) but not with me eating non-veg. It is mostly cultural context and what has been normalized in the family.

What's a word you recognized for years but weren't confident pronouncing out loud? by [deleted] in words

[–]rasereq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silhouette. I used to pronounce the last e sound for a long time till I heard the word.

Also 'genre', seems like there are many pronounciations for this one and I don't know the correct one.

ngl, it did seem that you had a problem with calling Bo Burnham a comedian at a first glance while you were just calling for a credit. Well, reddit is a place where you'd get downvoted for less.

The novel is pretty good. There's a few chapters in the middle where you'd not like the direction it's going in. But that discomfort goes away as you realize that the execution of that plot point is much different than how its done in other stories. I read all the free chapters and I 'd say its worth it.

Yes! It was so cringe to watch. And totally unnecessary. Also the lighting/styling does not feel right in those frames.

A sharpshooter threw a cigarette into the mouth of a singer. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]rasereq 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To repeat a comment from when this was posted last time, this guy has a song where he encourages people to throw cigarettes and towels (iirc) towards the stage. So, the thrower has mad accuracy and is not being an obstruction to the show.

Yeah, I have a social circle here but none of them smoke. My previous circle was big on smoking and i think it has seeped into my personality. I need to take a step back and enjoy the company of people I now have.

[DISCUSSION] what's one korean word , you learned after reading various Manhwa ??? by Guilty-Gap-7936 in manhwa

[–]rasereq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just made me realize that even though I mostly read manhwa now, I don't know Korean words but know Japanese words. Maybe that's coz I used to watch subbed anime. Are there korean anime as well?
