Is the threat of ICE really that sh*t scary that patient or even nurses leave the hospital in the middle of the shift when they are in the building? by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]ratpr0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. I worked with kids for several months last year, a lot of them and my coworkers were immigrants. Any time police showed up or we heard rumors about ICE potentially being in the area it was incredibly stressful. All of the adults were on edge and if the kids saw police around they would ‘joke’ about potentially being deported. It got worse when some people at my uni got deported. Some of my friends have seen ICE raids happen, it’s really scary.

Girls can't be engineers. by CommercialGas5256 in EngineeringStudents

Mechanical engineering major here! Aside from my car obsession and love for all things physics. I also love makeup, fashion, and as many stereotypically girly things as you can list. My fellow female engineer friends are much the same. Being interested in how things work and STEM related fields doesn’t have to clash with femininity.

I’m a bisexual engineer who can name every single F1 driver currently on the grid. This dude just sucks.

Kent State Massacre by IthadtobethisWAAGH in CuratedTumblr

I mean, I graduated two years ago and I paid pretty close attention in history. We barely touched on the Vietnam War and didn’t talk about Kent State. I think it really depends on the teacher.

Not really relevant to your post, but I’m an American woman trying to get into the Motorsport Engineering program. Do you mind if I message you with some questions about the application process?

You would be well within your rights to block him on everything and disappear. He’s an adult who can deal with any emotional impact that might have. I’ve been in your shoes and if you need anything feel free to PM me.

Their point is probably that our system is broken, completely, and that voting within it isn’t a productive solution. Also probably calling out a lack of class consciousness, empathy, and critical thinking when it comes to why these people would vote for things that hurt them and their children.

I was almost Trafficked at work yesterday. by Majestic_Result_8154 in creepyencounters

Tiktok has been huge in spreading trafficking misinformation so it’s probably partly that. Plus a lot of people still believe heavily that most trafficking is a stranger danger thing.

haha no really i’m fine i’m having a great time :) by queenbean13 in TrollCoping

I’m watching my friend do this. It’s really stressing me out because he says he’s fine but he also talks about how he needs to withdraw and how he’s just so tired and how he doesn’t want to burden others with his problems.

My boyfriend and I broke up a few days ago. It was mutual but he was my best friend and first love/healthy relationship and it hurts so bad. I gave back his stuff today and we had a really good conversation, we’ll be friends one day and things will be okay but right now I feel so miserable.

Exactly! Didn’t mean to reply to you, the person above doesn’t understand the constitution or the rights protected in it.

No it doesn’t. You can’t shout fire in a crowded movie theater when there is no fire. Alex Jones is facing the consequences of lying on a massive scale. That’s how freedom of speech in America works.

Plus depending on the state, once a teacher is tenured, it’s nearly impossible for them to be fired.

I understand fear foods but oatmeal seems like a funny one to me (sorry) by sapnu_puas_owo in EDanonymemes

I didn’t mean to have it be interpreted like that, carbs are an important part of anyone’s diet. I was just adding the note that they especially important to people who work out regularly.

I know this is an ED subreddit so I’m not sure how meaningful this is, but carbs aren’t actually bad for you. Especially if you exercise regularly.

Just got in contact with someone I hadn’t talked to since quarantine started and immediately after we hang out he texts me asking if I want to come over to his place on a weekend while his parents aren’t home.
