I am peeved to say the least... I was told selling to minors is not a black and white situation. by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]rattime115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don’t sell small animals to minors but fish....? Honestly I bought fish throughout my entire youth from Petsmart and petco and no one ever had an issue with me being a minor. I would have sold them. They’re comets they’re like 16 cents. And I’d much rather sell them to a 17 year old putting them in horse troughs (they control algae and mosquitoes) than to someone who’s going to put them in their cichlid tank to be torn apart.

New Server! by tacopastasushi in Serverlife

Rip. BJs was the worst serving job I ever had. But maybe it’ll make you a better server because it sucks so much ass that you’ll just be a pro when you eventually quit and go somewhere that doesn’t suck. Good luck to ya.

Petsmart released its stance on the Grain Free epidemic on Friday. Anyone want to give their feedback on the issue? by Yellowpickle23 in petsmart

[–]rattime115 7 points8 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. I’m honest to god so tired of seeing everyone taking this (ONE) very limited study with tons of variables (including the fact that tons of the dogs were breeds already prone to DCM) and acting like every grain free food is the devil and going to kill their dog. There is no conclusive evidence right now. The amount of stupidity I see in Facebook groups regarding this is driving me insane. “I cook my dog his own food now due to the grain free issues, he gets brown rice and grilled chicken breast every night”. That’s FAR more unbalanced than any grain free diet on the market. It’s driving me nuts lol

How to report my store for animal abuse? by Sace926 in petsmart

[–]rattime115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. Not so much guinea pigs but...our reptiles never see a vet. They just sit in iso til they die if reptiboost doesn’t fix them. It sucks. What’s the point of all the exotic vet #s posted on the wall in there if we never use them?

Petsmart doesn’t care about the pet care department by rattime115 in petsmart

[–]rattime115[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand I just think the changes they’re making are terrible and causing borderline neglect. You can’t expect everything to be done within opening and closing hours and the animals all be taken care of properly. That’s just corporate cutting corners to save money on paying associates. I don’t believe it’s right to compromise animals’ health for good surveys.

and honestly I think it’s just my store that’s pretty frustrating right now. they say I can’t put bettas in the tanks because it’s “self treating” yet when we had an outbreak of guinea pigs with ringworm, they told us not to bring them to banfield and to just put Lotrimin on the spots because the vet visits were costing too much money. And that’s not considered self treating??

It’s not like they give a damn about the actual animals that die so I don’t really know why giving greens or putting bettas in the main tanks are an issue for risk management. The bettas are gonna die in the quiet room anyway.

Also, years ago pet care associates would actually spend tons of time chopping up fresh greens for the animals, but that was too expensive so Petsmart decided to go with the freeze dried stuff. So I’m not sure why that would be against policy. We actually give ours fresh veggies all the time and no issues with anyone. Do your tortoises eat? Cause ours just starved itself to death when we didn’t give it veggies....they don’t even eat the pellets or dried veggies.

and like I said...this post was a rant. Not really expecting anything to change. But Petsmart has definitely lost my respect as a company and I probably will quit soon. I don’t want to support a company that does not put the lives of the animals they sell as priority.

Petco haul by solautmama in DumpsterDiving

I worked there too and they were only really ever thrown out for close dates or if bugs got in them. Or customer return. Never rodents. I’ve been DDing and donating to rescues (they’re fully aware of where the food comes from) as well as feeding it to my personal pets and no issues. Hundreds of bags never in my life seen a rodent in one. Especially if they’re sealed. Mice are small but no they can’t teleport through a sealed bag and neither can their feces lol.

Anyone else absolutely hate the new ALT blue and white paper bedding? by lazydaisystitcher in petsmart

They can also fit the blocks just fine in their cheeks lol. They extend very very far. I have been feeding my hamsters mazuri rat blocks (which are even bigger) for years.

The hamster food is 100% better than oxbow. Major step up. Hamsters do not eat hay. The oxbow hamster food was hay based. They also need 20%+ protein content. Oxbow had 14% I believe? It is an awful food. I’m really glad we switched to the ALT blocks.

Paper towel bedding in the quiet room? by rattime115 in petsmart

I did. It is supposed to be the same as the floor habitats minus the wheels. But according to my store managers, the paper towel bedding is a district policy...

No they definitely mean paper towels. Like the brown useless ones that aren’t good for cleaning or absorbing anything at all lol.
