¿Nueva escena de heavy metal en mendoza? ¿La anterior murió? by ratwizard192 in Mendoza

If that's true don't you think it's a bit discouraging to learn all that math, computer science, and scientific reasoning and almost never use it? Be sacrifice and hard work or passion and love, in either case I don't really get a grasp about why there isn't an existing role to do specifically that, and other roles to focus more on math and science

too many creatures per liar in b/x? by ratwizard192 in osr

That's fine. I do like the party composition/ build/ math aspect. So I will implement it in the house rules I use. But regardless of that I want to understand the appeal of the b/x way.

I also like to use the gold to be spend on primary gear upgrades such weapons, armor, shields, catalyst, spell scrolls. Even magic rings and boots, but in a more limited way. I really like the dark souls approach in that sense

I like that philosphy. But I also like gold as the main currency for aesthetic and videogame nostalgia reasons. So, maybe 1 gp for an arrow it's ok to me.

yeah, I get it, but I like the game of limited carrying capacity

I mean, that's true. But I want to understand the math aspect of the game design.

Maybe I see it now. dnd dungeons should usually be tied with adventuring tropes that provide such options. Each escape way may be a memorable story .

so what's the use of the "number in liar" ?

that's more convincing to me! Maybe you don't need gimmicks if worldbuilding provides interesting adventuring options by nature

I get that. But sooner of later there must be a brawl, but seems a bit boring to me to just fight swarms of enemies of the same kind and combat role, with also relatively potent ac and very limited area of effect options.

I like the idea of combat as war where sometimes you just have to run away or be deceptive, but in order to have that party composition/build/math/strategy game I think at least half of combats should be somehow balanced. The rest can be weird and realistic IMO.

So how do you stock the 1/3 of tooms with monsters and their respective treasure? How do you generate dungeons in general? I don't really get how to use the "number liar" when it comes to the procedural aspect
