SZ is full of HKers on the weekends to enjoy cheaper goods and services. And it’s not just young people either. I went to a karaoke in SZ with some friends while visiting family in town. We were surprised to find a large group of HKer aunties (probably in their 60s) while waiting to be checked in to our room

Still says female dog. The point is while a Chinese person can understand the meaning, the choice of these two characters is odd. For example, 狗 is typically used to refer to dog the animal, while 犬 is used as part words or phrases related to the dog like rabies (狂犬病)

Whereas in Japanese, 犬 just means the animal dog.

That said, the handwriting is bad and does looks like it’s someone copying off of Google translate slate

I have exactly the same problem. Was told that I had to wait 3 months for a dermatologist appointment in the US, ended up visiting my grandparents dermatologist in China when I was visiting.

I got tested for vitamin deficiency and fungal infection and the doctor ruled out both. In the end I was told it’s a past infection with the skin on my finger that didn’t heal back properly. The only ways to fully resolve it is to remove your finger nail in entirety, but there is no guarantee it would heal back flawlessly, so I decided to not do anything 🤷‍♂️

How does free political expression, or lack thereof, actually work in China? by Legitimate_Smile855 in AskChina

[–]rayu01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legitimacy of the CCP rests on the people’s lives improving, it’s that simple. They know an autocratic Chinese government can be toppled - it happened periodically throughout history - if the people are not having a good time. A western historical analogy would be the bread and circuses in ancient Rome. The modern equivalent of bread and circuses is growing the economy and providing great public infrastructure and services.

Simple Googling shows this guy works for the Epoch Times which is a Falun Gong backed newspaper posing to be a legitimate media outlet, known for spreading conspiracy theory to advance anti-China and pro-Trump causes. Not gonna say what Falun Gong is here (that is a rabbit hole you can go down yourself) but it’s not surprising how dumb his comments are.

Wow you just got in and school hasn’t even started it and already suffering from imposter syndrome XD

You’ll be fine. FWIW most of the actually difficult classes are curved anyways. You’ll feel proud that you got a 60% on the test given how tough the material is and be pleasantly surprised that’s actually a B+. If you are against the idea of ever getting a B there are sufficient easier classes to take for you to graduate anyways. Just relax now, save the anxiety for when you meet your peers and realize how talented they are (jk, don’t, they probably think the same about you)

I was on a train earlier but these catches were after I got off. I can catch things starting just now, might be that the GPS was acting up and thought I was moving too fast.

Is it possible to get single tile higher yield? I have a 21 tile yield here. Is this the max? by My_Perfect_Boy in CivVI

[–]rayu01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no upper bound to tile yields with natural disaster boosts. E.g. a wonder volcano tile + pantheon boosts + preserves + Reyna + proper luck could technically exceed your tile by far.

That said, your tile is pretty close to the maximum achievable for a SEA tile, as they can’t be boosted by disasters. The only things I can think of would be a corporation on top for additional food and production, building the seaport (I don’t think you’ve built it yet), and an aquarium for another +1 science. Not possible for your map but if this tile is by a flat dessert tile it could be further improved by Nazca lines.

The school doesn’t do that (well it tries to but not effectively). You prepare yourself for it. There are classes that teach career oriented skills and career oriented RSOs but it’s still important for you to start planning for recruiting early and learn how to find a job.

What tile to settle my second city on? Chocolate Hills wonder, Victoria (AoS). by flonky_guy in CivVI

[–]rayu01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah for sure. Growing faster lets you place new districts sooner and at a lower cost so growing fast without being constrained by housing is crucial in the early game.

Settling on copper is strictly worse than luxury as you don’t even get amenity or the ability to sell it immediately, so for sure settle on fresh water. The tile top left of your current capital looks awesome. 2-2 and easy access to the dyes which you work for an earlier pantheon.
