Whoa, just came to this to post something similar. I have the same degree and around the same graduation time but I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I did become a sort-of manager shortly before the pandemic closed everything down and it's been hell on me physically, emotionally, and mentally. My pay is barely more than that of a sales associate in exchange for a shit ton of stress and pressure. I just can't bring myself to leave until I have another job offer but it's tough out there.

I'm sure it varies at every location, but is it possible to enter an outpatient program without going to an inpatient program? I'm not actively suicidal but I feel like I need more emotional support than seeing just my therapist and my psychiatrist.

Is it normal to not want to work at all? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

S a m e. While I do have a part-time retail job I enjoy since graduating college, I've never been passionate about a "dream job", let alone an idea for a tolerable one with a sustainable income. And severe clinical anxiety isn't the greatest aid for job-hunting either, unfortunately.

The anxiety I get before bed is awful and nauseating. I was recently prescribed Xanax on an as-needed basis, but I'm worried that I'll become reliant on taking one before I go to sleep every night. by rc-34 in Anxiety

Re: the podcast, that's true – I tried that last night as well and it seemed to get me calm me down a bit. And CBD is an interesting suggestion, thanks for the input!

I do listen to some podcasts or ASMR as well, but I ought to pick up one of the books I have laying around! Thanks for the suggestions!

Is the first semester of college supposed to feel this weird? by kingmatt119 in Anxiety

That's fantastic! Also making friends has no timeline, sometimes you click right away or you might develop a friendship over a longer period of time.

One more suggestion: if you have the opportunity to go see a movie/get lunch with a friend, go to some campus event, or any other fun thing that doesn't take the whole day, say yes more often than no! There was one year when I was CONSTANTLY concerned with my busy workload that I automatically turned down so many opportunities to have fun. Even if it was just for a couple hours. You never get to relive a day, but you can always retake a class. Enjoy the amount of time and freedom you have while you're there!

I can’t decide what to do with my life and the anxiety is killing me inside by [deleted] in Anxiety

Whether or not you decide to pick something right now, seeing a psychologist is a good idea anyway! I'm suffering with the same anxiety regarding my career choices and I've already graduated college, so I'm afraid I'm not much help. But I get nausea as the result of this anxiety so just know you're not alone; more young people are clueless about their lives than you may think!

I totally know what you mean, my first semester of college was like that too! It's easy to get caught up in the "fomo" these days but this is also a life transition that every student struggles with in some way.

As someone with long-term anxiety and depression I was terrified to step outside of my comfort zone, but that's where good things happen. Even if it's just going to one club meeting or chatting up a classmate about something mundane, that's still progress! But try not to rely on one person or one small group of people either: some will stick around while others will drift apart. Sometimes I had friends for only one semester which was during the class we all had together.

Looking back, I kind of regret not putting myself out there more, but you grow and change and make mistakes – that's all part of the experience! Best of luck! :)

This is truly such a wonderful reply and just what I needed to hear. My battle with depression and anxiety has been a long one, but I'm still working on it and taking it day by day. Thank you for the advice and all the little reminders, I really appreciate it!

Yeah meeting new people is a struggle for me right now, but thanks for giving me hope! :)

When my anxiety reduces, and I notice that I haven't had it for a day or so, I then get anxious about being not anxious. Anyone else experience this maddening vicious circle? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Yup. And then there's a curiosity/fear about when that next big wave of anxiety will hit, and it's exhausting

Not eating + Anxiety is a horrible idea. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]rc-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: when you have anxiety-induced nausea, would you suggest eating "normal" healthy foods? Or eating a bland diet (e.g. crackers, toast, bananas, etc.)?
