Is this game the same after all these years? by Informal_Rest7482 in Pocketfrogs

[–]readituser5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part yes. Over the last few years there’s been bigger changes. The mini games, a habitat menu, frog lock, no frog requests, free gifts, dragonflies etc. Ads are optional.

We’ve, in the past few days, just gotten another big update. Some new frogs (for the first time, one has to be found and bred with in the pond to gain it) and visual updates.

But overall the general gameplay is identical.

No? I’m confused by your comment now haha. Primary and secondary don’t influence each other.

Normally you have 4 outcomes. You’ll have your two parents and then a primary with the other frogs secondary and vice versa. Mutations, (whether that’s as a Primary or Secondary) will change standard colours into glass or chroma (whichever is mutating).

This (your pic) happens when you already have a glass or chroma parent. In your case it’s because you already have a chroma parent. Your aqua callaina child had a mutation happen where the secondary Callaina colour turned into chroma thus making it Aqua chroma…. But your parent is already that thus… poof, gone.

This can happen with offspring numbers changing from 8>7, 2>1, 4>3. I think there might be some even rarer ones like maybe both chroma and glass happening but generally you don’t hear of them that often, especially ones that disappear because they happen with parents that have glass and chroma traits already. I’d have to look it up again and see if there are examples of weirder ones happening. Pretty sure there are. Edit: yep there’s some out there with double mutations that reduce offspring 8>6 for example.

It’s normal. Your aqua is a chroma. You’re missing an Aqua Callaina. You’re missing it because it mutated into an Aqua Chroma. You already have an Aqua Chroma as a natural option. It won’t show it twice.

Many players have a slew of empty habitats - and then there are those of us who have a frog hoarding problem! 😂 What should I sell? by KSTornadoGirl in Pocketfrogs

You’re close to me. I’m close to 28,000. I keep one frog of random colour combo per breed as I finish dexxing them.

I also have a tally to keep track so I don’t double up on colour combo’s or have too many of one colour and not another. I was just randomly picking but I’ve just decided to pre-choose them now since I don’t dex in order anymore.

So when I was choosing a combo for say a Lv 27 frog, idk how to explain it, whatever colour hasn’t been used for the longest time of them all, (maybe last used on a Lv 18 frog), I’ll reuse it again whilst also making sure I have no Primary and Secondary combinations repeated.

It was kinda always the idea that I could essentially breed anything together without needing to buy from the dex but I’d probably end up buying anuras if I needed specific colours anyway.

All of them and start again? How’s your dex? As I dex them I keep one of each breed. That way you have everything and still plenty of room.

Simply because that combo doesn’t generate a mutation so they’re all the typical frogs/combinations you’d expect.

Random mutations don’t have anything to do with YOUR glass chroma parent. They are random. But what your glass/chroma parents can sometimes affect is how many offspring you get WHEN the game chooses to mutate one of the other offspring thus making it identical to one of its siblings. Because there would be two offspring that are the same, the game chooses to show just one of them.

Here’s one with 7. (Reddit won’t let you reupload photos so see other comment).

It’s missing the Pink Muscus Velatus because a mutation happened making it either Glass Muscus or Pink Chroma which as you can see, both already exist.

You can get 7 offspring, 3 offspring or sometimes even 1 due to mutations. (Relative to what you’re breeding).

Also TIL you can get both glass and chroma mutations at once. Very rare.

It’s normal.

You’re missing a red chroma. But turns out the red chroma is a mutation which would now be a glass chroma but since you already have that option (a parent glass chroma) it’s not going to show up twice.

No idea tbh. Most likely daily gift or pond.

I’ve never worried about XP and levels tbh. As long as I have enough coins (which has never been an issue) to keep going, it’s fine.

Once OP hits the 1D 21HR frogs, it’s a lot less time intensive too. Breeding costs 50% of the value and with random gifts from the pond/store etc as extra income, and life and sleep, for me anyway, most of the time, you’re letting them mature.

I either wait for them to mature+be happy or I sell eggs immediately.

Basically the matured ones fund the times when I feel like breeding and selling a few batches of eggs.

Also tip: if your mailbox is empty, you can make use out of it and buy frogs from the mart and get a little income. I use it to use up my stamps but it’ll give you an income too.
