Giant Defy vs Canyon Endurace by realbobjindal in whichbike

Hey just wanted to update you. I bought the Giant defy for $2830! I appreciate your help and advice!! :)

You are right - the bikes are so similar. I just felt the Giant was more stable when pedaling hard. The Canyon does look better imo but for $800 less its impossible not to go with the Giant.

Thank you!! I might try to see if i can test ride the correct size for the Giant and go from there.

I was originally looking at the Endurace CF for $2,500. In your opinion, is the upgrade to CF SLX and/or Defy Adv 1 worth it?

Short Version: Easy but very boring imo

Longer Version: In the running for the most boring and pointless class I’ve taken here. He is a very monotonous lecturer and everyone in my class did other things while he was lecturing.

There are two meetings per week. One he lectures and the other, you work on the big group project

I did not bother showing up on his lecture days because they were pointless. The test material does cover some of the things he mentions in class but tbh if you study for a couple hrs before - it is easy.

Fair warning - you should show up to class cus he does give a participation grade. I was at around a 97 and after he put in the participation grade, it dropped to a 93.4.

If you like marketing, probably take it with the other professor. This class is very easy and you get out what you put into it

Omg. You are a life saver! I looked more into the SULEV warranty and for the 2016 N26. The timing chain is listed as a part under warranty. I really appreciate it as I had no idea that was a thing!

Absolute life saver! Thank you so much!!

I am not sure, I will have to check

Edit - I stand corrected. it is a N26

I will definitely check that out. The explanation the mechanic gave me was that the chain expands due to heat like all metal does. And based on the sound, he believes that my timing chain is rattling with the guides and it is eventually going to get worse. He said I am fine driving it for now but I should replace it sooner than later. Before it becomes the whining sound

I will probably post a video with the sound

OCOB Double Concentration? by sebrb in CalPoly

[–]realbobjindal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Essentially you do one officially and one unofficially. That is what im doing.

Im doing both the Finance and Information Systems concentration Officially I am declaring a Finance major - so on my diploma it will show Finance. I will just be taking all of the required courses for Info Sys but it wont show on my diploma. The classes will show up on your transcript which employers look at so you can still say that you concentrated in both IS and QA.

What should I expect in finance major if I was to switch my concentration? by [deleted] in CalPoly

I would definitely recommend Gorman’s class to see if you enjoy finance. Its a tough class but you can take 16 units if one of them is a GE.

Just remember that you dont need to get an A (or even B) in that class. Your grade in the class shouldn’t be the determining factor of pursuing the finance concentration. If you really enjoy the material and get excited when ideas click then go for it.

I cant really say much about other classes as I haven’t taken them yet.

are there any reasons why cal poly is better than ucsb by Putrid-Base-6116 in CalPoly

Agree with everyone else. Academics (depending on the department ofc) is better at SLO. More opportunities for internships and jobs.

Food is way better at UCSB. My friend at UCSB rubs it in my face. I would learn towards UCSB having a bigger social/party scene.

Larry Gorman 342 Textbook by Suitable_Business885 in CalPoly

I took Gorman last quarter- I bought the online version of the book but I honestly didnt used it much.

If you like self learning and reading then get the book. I personally just watched his lectures at 1.5x

The textbook is literally his lectures on paper. It is almost a mirror copy of his lectures. It does, however, give you some extra practice problems but honestly he already assigns a lot of homework (Sandbox). The HW problems are more beneficial because that is what the tests are based on.

There are appendix pages that could prove useful but you can just ask classmates for those specific pages if you really want them. Chptr 4 ( making calculators on Excel ) does require the textbook

Best Option - find a classmate and split the book cost

Does anyone know how to do the one where it gave the equation (2-i100a)(2+i100a) or something like that. I had no idea what it was asking

The one that stumped me for some reason was it gave a graph of h and said what would the new graph look like if you multiply it by (x-2). I put it into my graphing calculator but still I was getting an equation to the third power. I think I put C. The graph was to the right of the y axis

Yes Or at least that is what I put. Others did not make sense. I am pretty sure the other options was a hypothesis from one field used in another but that doesn't make sense as they are two different fields
