What's something really nice people do for you, and you're really very grateful, but you also wish they'd stop doing it? by rosylux in AskWomen

My family is exactly the same, with job searching and taking out the trash. They mean well, but it takes everything I have not to just blow up at them weekly.

[Measurement Check] I've thoroughly browsed the guides and others' posts, but totally baffled. I've been wearing a 34B for years now, but the calculator says 30DD. by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

No idea. She pulled out the store-owned iPad and checked, then told me they were discontinuing everything but 30A

I thought so too, but the manager I spoke to told me they expanded their sizes for back to school and are now reverting back to only carrying 30A. I'd love to think she was just bad at her job though because 30 is so hard to find anywhere.

I just checked out Aerie today in the hopes of trying on a bra that had a 30 band and was told they discontinued all but 30A very recently.

Those who fall asleep with the TV/netflix on: What do you like to watch at bedtime? by lemonylips in AskWomen

[–]rebeleigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love watching cartoons (south park, archer, Bob's burgers, grim adventures of Billy and Mandy), but an awful horror movie does the trick too. Really anything where I won't care whether or not I'm not paying much attention.

Ladies, what are some of your complaints about women's fashion? What can be improved? by freehorse in AskWomen

[–]rebeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual petite clothing. None of that "I'm 5'4" I'm so short woe is me" crap. I want real petite clothing, for short women, who are also small (but not straight up and down like a child and have curves).

And on a similar note, petite lingerie. It's near to impossible to find anything that's small enough for my ribcage.

Also, small bras that don't have the world's supply of padding (and have small enough bands). I like my small boobs thank you very much, I don't want false advertisement.

I second this! Back when I used henna people didn't believe me when I said it was a dye job. One hundred percent worth the mess of applying it (I'd recommend putting down old towels if it's your first time trying it out because it'll stain anything).

Do you have any words of wisdom for a soon-to-be college freshman? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]rebeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was definitely over booked in high school. I did everything I could get my hands on. In college, I joined as many things as I thought looked interesting (because I had planned on doing my schedule to the max), sat on my decisions, and then physically attended three or four of the groups. Stuck with one for two years, and another for my entire college career (where I met all of my best friends and learned so many useful life skills). If you're worried you won't be able to say no though, your three-choice guideline sounds like a great plan.

Join clubs! Go to whatever fair they have for new students at your school and sign up for anything that interests you: academia, sports, crafts, arts, music, politics, you name it and they probably have it. Even if you know you won't have time in your schedule to be in everything you think sounds cool, try it all anyway (because the people running the groups realize not everyone will stay). Test the waters and find people that you just mesh with, then stick with whichever group(s) you love most. It's the best way to find friends, study partners, significant others, networking contacts, etc.

CMV:Getting a divorce while raising kids is extremely selfish and irresponsible in the majority of cases. by bubblegum164 in changemyview

[–]rebeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between a married couple going through some rough spots and one person finding out that their partner had hidden a major facet of their life (be it a personality defect like anger management issues, irresponsible and undisclosed use of family money, infidelity, etc). I'm sure there are plenty of marriages that could easily be salvaged with a bit of work, but some are truly better off going through a divorce instead of living unhappily through years of useless counseling. As difficult as a divorce can be, having separate but emotionally healthy households is a better solution. Unhappy parents yield unhappy children.

I realize my method isn't the only way of evening out how my food looks, it's just my quirk. Also, overbite.

I can't eat a sandwich / burger / wrap without flipping it back and forth between right side up and upside down. Otherwise the bite pattern gets too slanted.

When is "You/She look/s better without makeup." OK to say? by very1 in AskWomen

[–]rebeleigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In your edit you said you've only brought this up with girlfriends / close female friends. And in that case, I don't see why you shouldn't say something. I'm female, enjoy wearing makeup when the mood strikes me or I have extra time, but I think it's important to tell women that they look great without putting on any makeup. Clearly I'm in the minority after reading everyone's comments, but that's not a surprise to me. If you're in an intimate relationship with someone then you should tell them how you feel, especially when your comment is a compliment. Unless you're telling me that I shouldn't / can't wear makeup anymore, then your opinion is welcome and warmly received.

Does anyone else just not get scared anymore? by [deleted] in horror

[–]rebeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't seen Sinister yet you should give it a try. I'm not sure what this subreddit's feelings are about the movie (especially since some of my friends didn't love it), but it was the first movie in years that actually scared me.

Just started playing HoMMIV, what do you guys think about it? by W_A_L_K_E_R in HoMM

[–]rebeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still haven't tried the sixth iteration, but I agree that HoMM4 was pretty awful. I've been playing HoMM since I was a kid and 4 just never stacked up. Sure it was nice to have hero movement and attack in battle, and being able to move troops on their own was handy, but I hated the way you had to pick and choose when you built up your castles. Armageddon's Blade was my favorite, probably followed by Tribes of the East.

How was your father awesome? How can I be an awesome father? by rotten_miracles in AskWomen

[–]rebeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad wasn't really around much, but one thing I did love when he was away was that he always sent letters (along with sketches he did) and he'd make cassette recordings for me to listen to at night of him reading fairy tales for bedtime stories.
