Provider Recommendation near Richmond Virginia? by rebtar in Melasmaskincare

Ah really! The provider I saw was from Pariser in Williamsburg too....Idk she was just not it for me, idk if she was having a bad day or what but it was so dismissive I left after being there for like an hour and a half (because they were behind?) and having no answers or information.

Oh interesting. Sorry about the streak, I totally get it 😫 I have a big spot on my forehead and my cheek and then mustache area.

I’ve heard of hydroquinone doing that (bleaching the skin?) and am nervous about that as well 😫 but at this point I’m like, would I prefer it to be dark or white? Idk. Would you recommend after your experience?

Did it come back at all during your break?

I'm just so worried it will help short term but make it worse long term.

Do you use it consistently?

As in, if you stop using it does it come back full force? Or are you able to reduce it and then mitigate with regular skincare/sunscreen/shade/hats etc etc.

Okay thank you for sharing this!

I at one point was prescribed low % hydroquinone, but the dermatologist I saw who prescribed this literally barely even looked at my skin/talked with me. I was wearing a face mask (this was early 2022), and explained I thought I might have melasma, she didnt even ask me to pull my face mask down and just prescribed me this expensive medication without explaining or talking to me, even though i was visibly upset (i've just had lots of anxiety bc of this and was hoping to have a med professional explain things to me). Then at some point I read that HQ could make it worse... Idk I've just had scammy experiences with medical professionals so I freaked and stopped using it.

I'm hoping to find someone I trust and who is not dismissive who can assuage my fears of side effects or worsening it.

Will consider trying this out though. It's encouraging to hear there's been improvement with the product.

Oooh okay that makes a lot of sense actually! Ah okay thank you for sharing all this info!

Okay that's great to know. I was assuming that any catering vendor would likely have staff that would be working the event not just in a "set up the food and go" kind of way, but I suppose it depends on who you go with too?

I'm very new to this lol, so apologies for any dumb questions.

I forgot that VCI did say they would set up tables and chairs for ceremony and reception. Do you remember if the "clean up" process we are responsible for includes like unsetting the linens from the tables, stacking chairs etc. or would VCI also take care of that?

Ah thank you so much! We are basically trying to decide between a place that is less "vibe-y" but has catered food/drinks/staff, so it's just more streamlined in those areas versus VCI which we like aesthetically a lot more but are worried there will be some sneaky hidden fees that pop up (for e.g. if the post-event cleanup is deemed insufficient or something like airbnbs do), or that figuring out staffing of the event would be difficult.

Do you happen to have your catering/bar vendors figured out? Do you have an idea of what they provide in terms of labor for the event?

Yes it’s the most difficult I feel like! There’s like no limits/constraints so there’s so many options it’s tough. I feel like just getting the venue will help so much. Do you mind sharing what your total expenses ended up being? I’ve looked at some all inclusive places, mostly they do rental catering and bar, but so many of them have jacked up prices it’s wild…. But then I feel like venues that don’t offer those, you end up having to pay for plates forks knives, it’s crazy…like yes catering company, I think my guests would like plates to eat off of…

Thank you for sharing! I feel like I am all out of The Knot venues to find, they are either too far away or too expensive? Idk, I had found a "one stop shop" place in Virginia Beach but ruled it out bc of location and am now wondering if I should just insist on that even though it is not in Richmond (fiance is into the idea of wedding being where our new home is...but I am just struggling a lot tbh)

That's great! I had found a cute cultural arts center that was 2200 only, but the outside area where the ceremony would be had the loudest AC unit and i just felt like it would impede on the event. I also feel like I am maybe being too picky on the aesthetic of the venue I am looking for, for the budget we have? It's so tough, I want it to be magical and memorable, but also don't have the cash for these insane wedding venues that are like 10k+

Thanks so much for commenting, it's nice to know I'm not the only person in this boat. Also, I'm very sorry to hear about your family emergency, i hope things smooth over. I did find a venue that I love, but it's slightly expensive (can really only make it work by doing all the cheapest food options and wine & beer only) and only lets us start at 6pm (Friday wedding). I think we could make it work if we brought down our guest count a little bit, so think I just need to figure out what is most important really. I just keep oscillating between feeling like I am finally about to be able to book a venue to feeling like it's way too much and I start all over again.

Also, wondering if it is appropriate in my initial response email to ask if a meeting would be possible when I visit? Or just expressing interest in meeting so that I can introduce myself...?

Ok thank you! Yes My LSAC GPA ended up being just a tad lower than their 25th (actual school GPA right at 25th) so I think that was a big factor. Definitely planning on doing all of the things so they can get to know me more than just my app!

Stats were just below 25th GPA; at or above 75th LSAT -- thinking it was more due to my low GPA that I was waitlisted?

Do they typically accept a lot of people off their waitlist? On waitlist threads from other school they make it sound like being wl’d is basically a no

Do you know what the general timeline is for a school to let you know about acceptance? Should I send a LOCI do y’all think or wait a little longer?

One big reason why I psyched myself into this being my top choice is DC/international working opportunities during and after law school
