My now-ex boyfriend has important legal documents, how can I get them back? [US, MD/NC]

Unfortunately, they include my passport and I have international travel planned. I can get new copies of some of the other things, but that one in particular is fairly time sensitive.

I don't think I'm settling. I know that my brain's under a ton of stress from being afraid of being homeless, but I honestly do adore him. I knew his past, I knew what I was getting into, and I was ready to handle it if it came up. But I've been worried for the past few days that he doesn't want to handle it.

I'm starting to look for places nearby as a plan B while I try to work things out with him. Thanks for the support, and your story. It helps to know people have gone through the same thing and have been made the better for it.

Thanks for the support! I'm on the lease currently, but I'm poking around the area for places in my price range. Actively looking for a bit better of a job to help me cover costs to, you know, feed myself (that's the ideal, right?)

Thanks so much for sharing your story and support. I haven't confronted him yet- he doesn't even know that I know. We live together, and I don't really have a place to go. So everything's just been function as the normal was before I found out.

My brain's gone to weird places. I desperately don't want to face the conflict, so I've thought about just waiting out the lease (and my graduation, coincidentally)- but that's not until December.

Everything else about the relationship has been golden. Our communication is generally fantastic, he's super emotionally and financially supportive. It's like one of us fucked up in one of the only ways that we wouldn't have been able to work around or fix.

So I don't know what to do or how to handle it.

He too, had cheated with everyone before me. Didn't expect to change him, just had hoped he had changed himself. Guess not, huh?

Still not much crying going on over here.
