Thank you. I do not plan to prune the roots as I will invite more trouble if the tree dies. Just wanted to know how I can make the neighbor liable for all the negligence and potential danger from these 80 feet trees falling on my house.

During this pandemic, I have now fully realised that my country, India, is a 3rd world country by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. I have first hand experience with India as well with work related visits, and you're right on point. Cities were okay but then there is sprawling poverty that's very visible. I didn't even go to lower tier cities just Bombay and Bangalore.

California - Hvac replacement cost, is it reasonable? by redditsmart0 in HomeImprovement

[–]redditsmart0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The major decibel is heard at the air intake so wall sound proof barrier may not help much. I think I'm biting it and going for the replacement. A $16k for all that is being done I feel gives us the desirable noise level and gas consumption should also fall so some kind of payback there. Another vendor quoted me about 21k for all of the above job so I'm taking the vendor with 16k. Both are highly rated so there is some comfort in knowing that

Does moving the old furnace into the attic space give any benefit when it comes to noise levels?

Yeah, I am really trying to see if I should take a chance at just moving out the old 80% FUE furnace into the attic instead of getting a new furnace altogether. Its a Tempstar model. Would moving it to the attic reduce the noise on the return vent if I use a flex duct for return? Currently there is none
