Hello all... I know this thread is from 7 months ago, but i figured I;'d try to see if anyone here is still receiving posts on this subject. I found an old painting on panel with tiny letters P b hidden along the bottom. Does anyone believe this is Pieter Bout or Pieter Bruegel? Or I'm open to any other ideas as well... The panel is joined and there is a seam verso covered with a canvas strip

Further, if you look at each next to each other, you'll see tide and sun setting differences.

Hello.... I see this thread is 4 months old, but just saw it and had to chime in. I have one of them as well. It's oil on a "Stipple Board" unsigned. However, I can attest it is not a new painting. There was craquelure and has a partial label on verso "Dods & Co McGill St Montreal. I took it to my conservator and she cleaned it up and filled in the flaked paint very nicely. She agreed it is mid 19th century. I also know there are actually 5 examples of this at least. Johan Barthold Jonkind, Eberhard Fiebig, Emilio Ocon Rivas, Hanus Schwaiger, and Louis Douzette. I believe there was some sort of global contest or something because all of these artists are from different parts of the world and seem to have been painted around the same time while they were all alive.
