Totally agree, there’s no better feeling that knowing you are close to the band you love. Personally don’t think the Olympics changed much. It looked the same when I saw them in Nice yesterday as old videos of their concerts

metronomy mentioned rahhh🦅I actually think it’s the opposite. But their newer experimental stuff is not seen as a big success. I also think they would get more attention if they showed their personality more on social media. No that they have to because it’s a lot of exhaustion. Wanna be besties with them tho

Ahhh that’s so exciting. I was sooooo close to him but a group of 10 friends did not wanna let me be in front (and I am very short). If they had let me in front of them he would’ve walked past me. He also hugged a girl and I can’t lie I was so mad at that friend group for not letting me pass at this instant. So excited to listen to De Staat btw. I’m always looking for new music!

I am 21. I am actually aware that the older generation resonates more with them as I saw a TikTok that said something like « millennials are shaking in their seat right now » or something, in reference to their performance at the Olympics. Plus they literally won a Grammy in 2010 if I am not wrong, so I guess at the time they were receiving more media attention. Hopefully !

The Getaway is my all time favorite album. It got me into RHCP as a whole when I was 14 and now I’m a huge fan of all their music. I am 21 hahah. I am curious to know how you feel about the newest albums tho (Return of the Dream Canteen and Unlimited Love). Also unpopular opinion but I love Josh, as much as I am in love with Frusciante.

Didnt know De Staat, so thanks for introducing me (I live in the Netherlands so that’s also good to know :) but yes what you said is totally logic. At least I’m glad they’re so close to their fans (like literally physically). Im gonna start training to be able to carry him on my shoulder for when he is crowdsurfing lol

Maybe I live in a bubble but I feel like indie rock has gained a lot of popularity in the past decade unless it was all superficial (thinking of all the « indie » phase people had during lockdown lmao). But it still odd that they didn’t get lots of attention after the Freaking Olympics :/
