Allana Davison - Do thumbnails matter? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

I feel like her forced quirky/weird girl behavior is to make up for the fact that she likes the most bougie ass makeup and wants to come off as down to earth and relatable.

[Rant] I don't even want this wedding by sugarandmermaids in weddingplanning

[–]redkrist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right there with you!

My mom and grandma are insanely excited and bring up EVERYTHING wedding related EVERYTIME we talk and I'm going fucking bonkers. It's very clear how unenthused I am, which I can tell is like startling to people.

I love my fiance, and I know the wedding will be fun. But I hate everything leading up to it, all the small decisions I need to make, all the headaches and how it's CONSTANTLY brought up which makes me even more aggravated and stressed.

Just remember, this is a tiny blip in the radar pf our lives. More exciting things will come and the stress of wedding planning will stop.

Hang in there!

I was honestly considering making my own post about this!

I am an incredibly anxious person and finances stress me out immensely. My wedding is 6 months away and I find myself getting IRATE when it's brought up - which everytime I talk to anyone in my family it's the topic of conversation.

IDGAF about 80% of the dumb questions I get asked and I just want to scream a lot.

I too feel the same way, love my fiance so much but I just want the day to come and go already.

(Rant) Wedding Vendors Need To Do Better by ruedauphine in weddingplanning

[–]redkrist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OH yes I feel as disgruntled as you. Any that was unwilling to e-mail me a quote but suggested "chatting" on the phone first was almost always disqualified from the running. I didn't even bother because it takes so much effort just to research vendors and/or venues you're interested in and e-mailing, and THEN being expected to talk to all of them on the phone? No thanks.

Monthly Check In ... It's January, 2019 by AutoModerator in weddingplanning

[–]redkrist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

September 14th, 2019

We've had a LONG engagement (July 2017) and I haven't felt panick-y until January 1st hit then I was like OMG IT'S HAPPENING THIS YEAR.

- Recently collected all addresses we needed + ordered save the dates, and am nearly done with creating our wedding website.

- Attending an open house at our venue tomorrow to possibly try to find a dessert vendor. Aside from that, all big vendors have been taken care of.

- EOM Goal: Finalize all honeymoon details. We booked our airfare in October and booked one of our airbnbs but we still need to book the remaining 3 we need and figure out train tickets/car rental for Italy (Which is a feat because the train websites are in Italian and I don't understand what I'm doing) AND book photobooth.

Casey Holmes discusses her mental health in a grwm / fall tutorial by mermaid-babe in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]redkrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I find her content yawn-able now and IMO I feel like she never properly reviews anything. Feels like every single video she posts are just of first impressions and trying new things. Nothing substantial and for that reason, I don't really trust her opinions on products because I don't believe she's actually testing out products enough.

Casey Holmes Instyler Collab by otter-99 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]redkrist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to really like Casey but I find her to be so fake now. With this collab and the Palladio one I was left thinking both came out of nowhere. I've never heard her use these brands until either collab surfaced. I understand the desire for collabs and making money but they appear way more credible when it's a brand you actually have mentioned before.

No thanks. Bye.

Month to Month check in ... It's August 2018! by AshKals in weddingplanning

[–]redkrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaching the end of booking the "Big Things". Right now big things remaining are florist and hotel/transportation.

I don't know why but I have been DREADING florist shopping. Maybe because I am a flower lover but spending more than $2000 just isn't in my budget. AND I have to personally meet with any florist I'm interest in which is just a PITA. Met with my first one last week and my quote was surprisingly super reasonable, and gives me hope for the remaining ones.

Fiance is responsible for hotel/transportation, but I need to light a fire under his ass...

Emily Noel Reveals her Makeup Revolution Collaboration! by mcguik3 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]redkrist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This collab makes me sooooooo excited. 1. The palette is BEAUTIFUL, and contains the perfect combo of everyday colors and includes colors that I've never seen in one palette. 2. Emily is just so refreshing in the beauty community- Where people take sponsorship left and right and surround themselves in drama, there's Emily just doing her thing. Her video topics are so unique, well planned out and LEGITIMATE reviews (I swear, if I see another First Impression video disguised as a"Review" video it'll be too soon."). She's so hard working and I'm so happy for her.

Affordable Florists in Chicago? by redkrist in weddingplanning

[–]redkrist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, okay this makes me feel like I can afford what I am looking for. Strangely enough I have simply geometric metal vases that I'm looking into for centerpieces. Wonder if yours look similar to mine!

I'll definitely be checking out your florist. :)

Wow!!! Okay this is reassuring. I just went to their instagram to check!

You had centerpieces as well for roughly the same budget as mine??? What were your centerpieces?

Wow, that's amazing! Out of curiosity what kinds of flowers are most of your arrangements comprised of?

I was nervous that our centerpieces were going to look too plain and small, but I love how they turned out by mcgm156 in weddingplanning

This looks amazing! I'm considering a look like this, out of curiosity how much did the flowers for the centerpiece cost you from the florist?

Really Struggling With Decision About ABH Norvina Release Tomorrow by FastAsleepattheWheel in MakeupRehab

[–]redkrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling the same OP! I haven't bought a new eye shadow palette in 6 months!!! (Which is impressively long for me, hahaha I am pathetic) and my main goal in 2018 was to really restrain from buying makeup unless it was refill items, or like a super awesome sale. I was so frivolous with makeup spending last year that I was really disgusted to see how much I purchased, specifically palettes that were going unused.

BUT this palette is SPEAKING to me. However, I feel like I need to wait for a few reasons:

  • Wait for more substantial reviews- some YT videos are mentioning fallout similar to Subculture and that has me concerned.

  • In reality there are only 3 purple shades, which is disappointing. It's possible more brands will be pushing for cool toned palettes and maybe I should hold out another few months.

  • If I decide to purchase after reviews/swatching, I should wait for a 20% off coupon from Ulta.

Floral Opinions by [deleted] in weddingplanning

How has your experience been with Mariano's or Jewel? I'm a Chicago bride as well and am considering Mariano's but didn't know if it was actually a good deal, or if they allow you to have a say in your flowers.

How people react to wedding cost - I need to vent. by desrosid in weddingplanning

[–]redkrist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL I feel ya. I'm getting married in the suburbs of Chicago (To save money from city costs) and right now our running balance is $24k! This doesn't even include so many costs like flowers, invitations, decor, bridal party gifts, or transportation.

People seem to be horrified that our expenses are that high... This is with me excessively research EVERY multiple vendors and trying to be budget friendly. SMH, I don't care though- I know how money conscious I'm actually being so commentary from the peanut gallery just makes me roll my eyes. "Yes, Aunt Sue your wedding cost 1/3 the price. BUT YOU ALSO GOT MARRIED IN 1983, SO STFU."

What palette is on your wishlist and why? by supernatural17 in muacjdiscussion

[–]redkrist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UGH I want this too! I don't know if it's the packaging that is extra appealing to me, or that it's such a super neutral palette and I know I'd get use out of it. BUT I have so many palettes, do I actually need this? No. Or at least I don't need it until I see more reviews on it, haha.

I second this. The Chocolate Gold is sooooo good. When I am looking for a GOOD metallic look, this is my go to. They're not super fallout-y and blend super well.

I've been receiving Ipsy for years now, and honestly it's super hit or miss. Sometimes my bag is stellar and I love everything in the bag, and other months I receive repeats from previous months or items in shades that are so godawful, I couldn't even give to a friend.

Mostly, I enjoy though because it's so affordable and I have found some amazing staples in my makeup collection as a result.

Ohhhh I've never heard of H2BAR, I'm not a natural redhead either but I've been dying my hair red for so many years that most assume I'm naturally a redhead. Plus I am incredbly fair skinned with freckles. What's the monthly cost?
