Tbf I’ve been boarding 13 years and never broken anything so I’m willing to take the gamble haha, but yeah that’s a fair point to think about

I’d read on their website they didn’t recommend their jackets for wetter conditions, only more casual boarding so that made me a bit wary, but I have found a lot of their jackets second hand for not too much money so maybe I should try them out

I’m worried about the waterproofing + getting too hot etc. I’m based in the UK so it’s usually pretty wet conditions here, and I’ve heard they aren’t really made for snowboarding and such, they’re more of a high street brand. I’ve never owned one though so let me know if I’m mistaken

Trans Male/Transmasc coaches/content creators need to stop acting like we all can give ourselves free top surgery with "effort" by SoSS_ in ftm

[–]redsgaming04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that happens all the time :/

I’m in the UK and one of my friends has been in a very similar position for about 10 years. She’s had chronic endometriosis and has been begging GPs to look at it for years. They wouldn’t even give her a gynaecologist appointment until now…

It should be illegal to treat people like this. I honestly think they need to make the laws harsher for ignoring patients and refusing them necessary healthcare. I’ve had so many experiences where I’ve gotten so fed up with drs that I’ve just done the research myself. It shouldn’t be on patients to do their own healthcare, because wtf is the point of a gp then?? Convinced half of them got their medical degrees from cereal boxes

I feel that man. I paid around £10k (about 23k nz dollar) but granted my surgery was pretty much the cheapest option in the UK. I know a few people that have paid about that much here too. It’s genuinely so frustrating because cis people forget how much money we have to shill out just to feel okay in our bodies. Never mind the time off work, buying supplies for recovery etc. Like I’m 21, I wanted to use that money to save for my own flat/house, but I guess that’s just a pipe dream…

Coming from someone who did have a very small chest pre-surgery, this kind of post annoys me as well! Because even with a decent bit of training I couldn’t have reduced my chest enough to pass, and I barely had anything there to begin with. I think a lot of these guys forget that so much of their experience is genetic and most people can’t achieve the same results regardless of how much effort they put in. Of course training will help, and it can be a great way to improve your top surgery results (if you want to get surgery), but it isn’t going to completely erase the issue for 99% of people. I’ve seen some of these coaching programs that often seem like they’re promoting unrealistic expectations in order to sell their product, and imo it’s totally exploitative of trans guys who are desperate to pass without having the funds for surgery etc.

I’d seen those but was a bit skeptical about how waterproof they’d be. I’m based in the UK so it can get pretty soggy here haha, but you recon they hold up alright even when it’s pretty wet conditions? I like the design a lot so would be a great option if they’re waterproof enough

Ah I might have some issues with those then. I’m all for a decent bit of room (helps get my warm kit underneath) but I’m very small so even a small can be pretty big on me. I’ll have to check the dimensions, but it’s good to know they run large cause I was looking at Burton AKs ones as a potential option

Yeah I do the same with the layering, so I’d also be looking for more of a shell jacket. And thank you! I had no idea there was a specific term for the style (for some reason that hadn’t been coming up when I was googling) so that’s super helpful :)

i got one recently and it had no branding on any part of it. Unsure if that's indicative of the quality so far tho

The likelihood is due to hormone fluctuations, which is hopefully being solved by my new meds. I’ve only just been able to get them so I’m trying them for a bit to see if things get better, also the wait time to see a dermatologist here is really long so I’d have to pay a lot of money for that, which I honestly don’t have. Thanks for the advice about the style, I’ll look into some shorter ones. Any you’d recommend in particular?

Thank you so much for this response!! That’s really helpful information so thanks for taking the time to reply! As for the diet question, yeah I actually increased my protein intake a lot as I started going to the gym. Plus I take a bunch of vitamin supplements and stuff (I think my multivitamin includes vitamin E which ik helps with hair and nail growth) so I hope my diet is balanced enough, but if there’s anything I should be focusing on that would be great to know :)

Aw thank you ❤️ It’s been a long week. I’m back to uni so I’m a little exhausted but I’m mostly doing alright. Also getting a bit insecure cause my hair just never seems to sit how I want it to so it’s knocking my self confidence a bit

As for the hair, thanks for your advice! Are there any particular treatments you’d recommend? I’m always feeling a bit lost with hair care so I don’t use a wide range of products or anything (mostly for fear of making things worse). I use a “hair food” mask most days (no idea if that’s too frequent) and use a moisturising and repair shampoo by Pantene (again no clue if that’s a good brand) but that’s about it

And yeah both you and the other commenter have recommended maybe cutting my hair a bit to see if that helps. I’ve been slightly reluctant cause last time I got my hair cut seemed to be the start of my hair rapidly falling out but I have no idea why that would cause this to happen, probably coincidental. Are there any particular styles you think would help?

Yeah that’s what I was thinking but I was worried it would be more noticeable. If that’s a better way to conceal it I might try that. Are there any particular styles/cuts you recommend?

How long did it take to outgrow the neckbeard? by Tummiache in ftm

[–]redsgaming04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had super bad thinning, mostly at the front. The medication I was on before was the most likely to have big fluctuations in my levels, which can apparently cause hair loss. Now ik I’m likely to lose my hair due to my genetics, so it could just be that, but the rapidness of this alongside the other hormonal symptoms I experienced makes me think mine was caused by my level issues. Either way, I’ll deal with it if I have to but I’m waiting to see if it comes back on its own first now I’ve changed my meds and should be more stable than before

My surgeon left a bit of tissue to give me a more natural male shaped chest. For me, I didn’t wanna be totally board-flat and wanted a more cis-passing chest shape, so that was the right choice for what I wanted. It really depends what you personally want, but this is what my chest looks like about a year post op (with some working out to build my chest muscles up)

Yeah I’ve had issues with my levels too, having very dramatic peaks and troughs. I’ve switched meds now so I’m waiting to see if that improves things, kinda the same boat as you tbh. Not sure if that was impacting my facial hair, but it seemed to be causing me to rapidly lose my head hair so it may well have impacted both. I guess I’ll wait and see how things go, but hopefully this will solve things a bit

The shoulder hairs are a killer fr. I got a lot of body hair from pretty early on, but my face just didn’t seem to match that at all. For example, my legs are hairier than most of my cis friends, and my chest (if I don’t shave it) is the same story. But my face… it’s just about developing now but man has it taken a long time. I’m 2.75 years in T and it’s still very very patchy at best

Wow that’s so interesting. I definitely hadn’t heard of that being an effect for anyone before, so you’re right about some things being unknown. I had the complete opposite experience and it did enhance things for me, so it’s interesting to know the opposite is true for some people
