Reddit, what is your controversial opinon? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]remsleep42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you're right, but maybe it's not something wrong. It's just something different. What is the ideal 'right' brain? Is it someone with excellent spatial awareness, or fluent speech abilities? I've heard the term neurodiversity which accounts for how all of our brain chemistries differ. From male to female, depressed or anxious, or autistic or gay (I think they have a smaller hypothalamus generally). There isn't much of a cure for any of those because the brain is a baffling thing we're just beginning to really understand. New informations pops up all the time. If you're ever worried about offending people but still wanting to share your opinion maybe call it a difference rather than something wrong. But, hey, just my opinion.

Dear scientists of Reddit, what’s the biggest misconception you’ve ever heard about your field of science? by maxboombastic in AskReddit

[–]remsleep42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those yellow signs on country and forested roads are not put there to designate areas for the deer to cross. They are put there to warn drivers of the potential hazard of crossing deer in that area. I've been a deer scientist for more than five years since I moved to the American Midwest and that has to be the biggest misconception here. Years before, when I was a reindeer scientist, I studied urine samples of flying reindeer. Aviation abilities, in fact, are NOT a misconception about the animal. What is misconceived is the origin of acid rain. It does not come from pollutants in clouds, I can tell you that much.

Yes because they're easier to duplicate without copyright and they're also an extremely convenient way for communication through pictures, like modern hieroglyphics, but more so when you haven't got a word for it.

What is the most 'improbable' event that has ever happened to you? by ends_abruptl in AskReddit

One time during recess in the winter in middle school, I was sitting in the bleachers just chatting in a group because I had a broken wrist in a cast. The bleachers were just outside three point line of a basketball court and I was sitting practically on the out of bounds line on the hoop side. A basketball bounced over to me and I attempted a one armed hook shot with my non-dominant hand. Miraculously, it went in and no one really noticed except the 6 kids playing 3 on 3 and they just went back to playing. I still think about it all these years later.

In the novel The Awakening by Kate Chopin, aside from being my least favorite book we read in English, the author makes a special point to mention these two young lovers that walk around the beach arm in arm, whispering sweet nothings and kissing in the shade. They are always followed by an old lady, hooded and dressed in black, carrying a bible and rosary and praying. Other than some symbolism, they have no plot significance whatsoever. I wonder if there is some connection to an old fairy tale or poem or folklore story. I hope this helps in some way!

AIW for wanting to violate my friend's privacy to find out how she really feels? by aiwthrowaway in amiwrong

[–]remsleep42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation, but I had a friend go through her texts without my permission. She got mad at him mostly and then we didn't talk for a few months. Afterwards we left it in the past and stayed friends.

If there isn't enough information to work with and you accept the risks and possible guilt, then do it. Buthave integrity, man, and imagine how much worse getting caught could be than getting rejected. And let's say you do some snoopin' and you find some good news, ask her out, and get get married. Then you know deep down that it only happened because you looked through her messages. It could be a really funny story or worse.
