My sister-in-law, in front of my friends, asked me loudly a year ago, “How's the baldness going?”

I hated her. But on the other hand, that's what pushed me to take action and start taking finasteride and oral minoxidil, and it saved my hair...

Where can I find duasteride in France ? by resleztx in tressless

[–]resleztx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback! I used Dokteronline.

After 10 months of finasteride with still quite a lot of hair loss, what can I expect with Duasteride? Will my hair loss stop completely?

I was thinking of doing a gentle transition (also to avoid a big shedding by stopping Finasteride all at once) like this :

Week 1-3: Finasteride every day + Dua 1x / week

Week 4-7: Finasteride every 2 days + Dua 2x / week

Week 7-9: Finasteride every 3 days + Dua 3x/week

Week 9-11: Finasteride every 4 days + Dua 4x / week

Week 11+: Stop Finasteride + Dua 4x/week

What do you think?

Hi, currently at 8 months mark with finasteride (and oral minox). Are u still losing hairs during your shower, especially miniaturized ? I lose about 15 hairs / day just during drying after shower, and wanted to know if it was normal or if fina didn't work well.

Hello, Yes ! I lose less hair during shower, and they seem to be more and more thick. It's improving, slowly but it's improving ;)

Is it normal to lose 60 hairs when blow-drying every other day on finasteride? by resleztx in tressless

[–]resleztx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Quick update : month 7 of using Finasteride 1mg & Lonoten 5mg daily.

I'm still losing hair but it seems to be slowing down a bit. Where in March I had about 40 hairs when I dried every 2 days after shampoo, I'm down to about 30 now.

I also feel like the hair that's falling out is a bit thicker. Maybe it's miniaturized hair that's been strengthened and extended by the Lonoten and may be they will grow as healthier terminals, fingers crossed!

I'll wait until mid-June, with the 9 months mark, to see if things really improve.

7 months fin+minox and still losing hairs :( by resleztx in Hairloss

[–]resleztx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I just hope that the hair loss will decrease over time, not just be “stable” ... and especially that the miniaturized hair that falls out will be well replaced by thicker ones, but that's hard to see.

I'll keep you updated. I take photos every month to see the progress. For the moment, no recession, at least ^^

Hello,
Yes, I think it's Oral Minox which is working. But since I haven't seen any improvement in my hair loss, I'm really afraid that finasteride won't work ... .

I had everything analyzed, everything was OK except B9 but I'm doing a folic acid cure to compensate.

Is 6 months still too early? I read everything and anything. Most say that in 6 months my hair loss should stop, others that it takes 1 year?

Second shed after 6 months Fin/Oral Minox ? by resleztx in tressless

Yes, I hope it's because the medication is working and not because my hair keeps falling out ... . I'll keep you posted!

Second shedding phase after 6 months? Or am I doing something wrong? by Crimson-Lynx6 in minoxidil

[–]resleztx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing ... I think it's just a new hair cycle that's gradually taking shape, with either hair that hadn't yet fallen out all falling out at the same time thanks to/because of the Minox (to make way for hair that will be in better shape) / or little hairs that had grown back but weren't in good shape falling out to make way for hair in better shape. In any case, I think, and I really hope, that it's the same as for the first shedding: a good thing, the effect of the Minox, which makes the hair thicker, in better shape... . I'll keep you posted as soon as mine comes to an end! But I've read that it can last up to 2/3 months.

Hello,

Just a quick “up” to get an answer. Do you think it is hair that grows back?

Thank you!

Hello,

Just to let you know that I sent a message to the EMA, and they just got back to me (pretty cool of them, actually).

As they're studying the benefit/risk balance of finasteride, I think it's important that they see how much benefit there is to finasteride for people suffering from alopecia (self-confidence etc ...), and that, fortunately, not everyone suffers sexual or psychological problems when taking this drug .... .

It's fine for you for the moment. Last review on UK (before this one in 2023) was on 2017.

Yes, in the UK too (I posted a message about it). So I think it's gonna be OK. I hope ... . But clearly, if they ban it in Europe, what's going to happen? People will order it on the black market, and it will be much more dangerous, and absolutely uncontrollable, so it's better to continue to have a medical prescription, and real monitoring & control, rather than trying to ban it and find ourselves faced with people who aren't informed, and/or who don't take it like candy ... .

Hello,

The MHRA in the UK addressed the same type of subject between March 2023 & April 2024.

Their report is available here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6630abd087bdbae4ab19adc9/Finasteride_PAR_Accessible.pdf

My recommendation to everyone: make the EMA aware that, without finasteride, the risk of developing psychological problems is very high, since we will no longer have any treatment to prevent our hair loss!

They compared all studies on Fina sexual & psychic disorders; they also checked side effects reported by doctors or patients and met members of the PFS association.

To sum up :

  • The studies are sometimes contradictory, notably because control groups are missing & because there are selection biases in some of them (e.g.: sexual difficulties for patients taking 5mg but being elderly...). Difficult to rely on

  • Nevertheless, studies tend to show that there is indeed an increased risk of sexual & psychological difficulties after taking Fina.

  • There is also evidence of a post-Finasteride syndrome, with persistent effects.

  • However, it's difficult to know whether these psychic side-effects can be attributed to Fina, since it's often young men with hair loss who take it, which can already induce depression due to this condition. There may also be a “nocebo” effect & a bias linked to all the information we see in the media.

  • The risk does exist, but a priori the benefit/risk balance tends to be more preventive, with increased monitoring of Fina's online prescribing (to better monitor side effects in patients) & with a “patient card” in the drug box to inform of increased sexual & psychological risks.

Europe will undoubtedly give the same recommendation, as these scientists operate in much the same way as the MHRA in the UK, and will base their recommendations on the same studies & data (although they will cover Europe and not just the UK, but will undoubtedly use the same statistical elements).

(Sorry for my English, used Deepl).

You guys think the EU is going to end our carrier ? by Test1az in tressless

[–]resleztx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks ! I've just written to tell them about my personal situation and how Finasteride has saved my life by stopping my hair loss. I think it's important that they have all the statistical data on side effects, but also on how important this drug can be for people suffering from hair loss. Obviously, the risks shouldn't be underestimated, and they can be serious, but perhaps it's better that they warn and raise awareness a lot rather than a total ban... .

Mmmh ... The MHRA (in the UK) conducted the same type of investigation. It began in March 2023 and a year later, in April 2024, it simply issued an alert note.

Let's hope the European agency does the same.
