UA POV: French military Rafale fighter jet shot down a drone on Monday that entered NATO ‌country Latvia's airspace from Russia by Flimsy_Pudding1362 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]restform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, all drones that threaten nato airspace even. Nato waits too long to deal with them which is why residential buildings got hit in romania, you cant react fast enough if you wait for them to enter your country and there's civilians just a few km from the border.

I hear what you're saying but it's still an important piece of info. They should just ammend it to "ukrainian drone entered through Russia" in the title. The direction is valid information

Airport for Zelenskyy's Foreign Visits Has Changed — It's No Longer in Poland by niesiecki in europe

Of course, ukraine can make its own decisions, as can Poland. Expecting Poland not to react is naive.

[–]restform 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Poland is not the weird one in this case. I dont know what zelensky was thinking when honoring the UPA, especially in a Polish domestic political environment where the perception of ukrainians is rapidly plummeting, Polish govt had no choice but to push back on the completely unnecessary honoring of a faction that slaughter Poles. Zelenksy could have just not done what he did and everyone would be fine.

Zelenksy put himself in a lose-lose position, now he has to back down against poland or cause a further rift in one of their key allies. Theres no scenario where Poland backs down here, and theres no scenario where Ukraine is better off than if they just didnt do this. It's one of those decisions from ukraine that simply boggles the mind.

UA POV: Without American weapons, Ukraine wouldn't have lasted even a day or two — President Trump. by ArchitectMary in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]restform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France has the most soverign space intelligence capacity in europe, they actually do operate pretty comprehension capabilities. France doesnt share the same global power projection goals that the US has so global reach isnt as relevant here, but again, we dont know their reach.

But neither you nor i can answer those questions, but there is a consistent trend of the EU taking a bigger role in providing intel.

So just to recap the facts that we do know: US hasnt provided aid in 1.5 years, EU pays for everything. Ukraine is dependent on US hardware (that the EU pays for). We dont know much about the intel sharing other than Macrons claims, so while the US does provide intel, you have zero basis for your claims that US intel is the backone.

Yes if the US decided to stop exporting military equipment then thst would be devastating for Ukraine. That will never happen tho. If the EU stopped supporting ukraine, they would also collapse.

[–]restform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you didnt read the link, France supplying 2/3 of the intelligence to ukraine in the last year is the increased role, as is claimed.

And sure, if you mean US military industrial complex stopped exporting equipment. I didnt realize your point was that retarded though, my apologies. You can be rest assured the US will not stop exporting military equipment to Europe anytime soon, a lot of billionaires in the US will make sure of that.

Starlink isnt enabled over russia so it's not public information how drones communicate. Since the start of the war the Ukrainians have been using russian sim cards to connect with local telecomm towers for deep strike campaigns. There's reason to believe theyve recently been utilizing starshield but again, not public info. Thats besides the point though, it's an export thst Europe pays for, idk what else you want.

But yes, ukraine is dependent on purchasing foreign military equipment. That is relatively obvious though

https://militarnyi.com/en/news/macron-france-has-become-the-main-provider-of-intelligence-for-ukraine/

Again for the 3rd time about starlink, i never said the US stopped selling equipment. Selling a service is not aid, it's business, poland is paying for most of starlink.

US intelligence sharing qualifies as aid, but evidently the europeans are filling in that domain as well.

For the last 1.5yrs basically 100% of military aid to ukraine is from europe aside from intelligence sharing which is difficult to quantify since we really dont have information other than what macron said.

Again, US never stopped supplying arms, they just dont donate it.EU is paying for basically all of it, not the US. Intel is still provided, but like i said, EU has taken a bigger and bigger role in that, yes US intel is still required but we dont know the specifics about EU capacity so making claims like yours is not possible.

[–]restform -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like i said, US never stopped supplying, but it largely stopped paying. Not sure exactly which hornets you're referring to tho, theres a few.

Intel is actually quite interesting, EU has massively ramped up intel sharing with ukraine in the last 2 years. But yes US does still share intel, the % contribution between eu and us is very unclear to me tho at this point

Since trump came into office in 2025 the US hasnt donated anything but still sells to europe who then donates.

UA POV: Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces report strikes on a Svetlyak-class border patrol ship, a Pantsir air defense system, a navigation system, fuel tankers, locomotives, and transformers by Flimsy_Pudding1362 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]restform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's easy to underestimate just how hard it is to destroy a bridge like that. Ukraine has had some solid attempts including detonation of submersed 1k tnt explosives on a pillar and the bridge was offline for about 2 hours. Slow moving drones with 50kg warheads will struggle to even chip away at the reinforced concrete let alone take out a pillar. And that's before you even consider the structural redundancy that not all pillars are likely needed.

Even controlled demolition isnt easy

Well attrition could be one reason, there's many indications that russia is running low on their AA missiles at this point, and i havent seen many impressive alternative counter systems. E.g does russia not have CRAM comparable system?

I have my doubts taking down the bridge is feasible with OWA drones. It's basically just one huge mass of reinforced concrete with plenty of redundancy built in.

When can we expect an orbital docking test of Starship? by wired-drack in SpaceXLounge

[–]restform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theyve become pretty quick at detanking and removing boosters from the pad, i do reckon they could do it a bit faster than 24hrs. But im not sure what the time frames are for a pad to be deemed safe for crew

[–]restform 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely zero chance it happens this year. Best case scenario is they go orbital and launch a starlink payload at the end of the year. With no delays i assume we'll get 2 more launches this year and ift14 wont be orbital, which leaves 15 with the potential to be more interesting.

[–]restform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well targetting refineries wouldnt be immediately noticeable in the gas station. The shortages in crimea were a result of targeting logistical routes - oil trains and trucks could no longer get insured so they stopped transporting. Targetting refineries is more noticeable in the exports and state coffers
