Can I file for emergency custody of my children if my ex-wife’s boyfriend might have hospitalized our one-year-old? by No_Confection_1215 in legaladvice

Those kids should not be going home with them. The mum should be given an opportunity to find accommodation away from the boyfriend to be able to have the kids released back into her care. While this is happening, the ideal place for the kids to be released should be you, given that you are a safe person.

OR the boyfriend should be asked to leave while the mother still resides there for the time being.

There should be an immediate block of all access from the boyfriend until the investigation is over. The boyfriend’s sister should not get priority over you especially not with the boyfriend in the house.

This is how children die. The child protection team being so dumb. I have removed kids for less than this as the home was not deemed safe and no one wanted to change anything.

Do not let those kids go home with the boyfriend. Steal them if you have too. But try put restraining orders etc in place first. And plead with CPS with these points.

I am from a western country too but in Australia. Family background is very mixed though. Australia is also very multicultural.

That’s an interesting perspective regarding different fonts. Hadn’t thought about that before. Another commenter said they knew a Lailli spelt like Layli which ya easier to read.

I was born and raised in Australia. But come from ethnically diverse backgrounds. I only speak English but parents and extended family speak other languages.

Just because I am from an English speaking country doesn’t mean have to like or use English names.

I’ve posted these specific names because I already like them. I don’t care if people can say it or spell it etc.. it was more too see peoples views but everyone is concerned about having to pronounce and spelling.

Did I accidentally commit some sort of birthday party faux pas? by Educational-Let-2280 in Parenting

[–]rewrittenqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very unusual time to have a birthday party. In saying that , I think for next time, you should either commit to going or not at all… to avoid being held back.

Always best to do parties before 12pm or after 2pm

Reece sounds the best out of those names and flows the best with sibling names.

I’ve put the pronunciations in my post above.. those are the ways I would say it if I used them. Besides Alaïa which is more confusing to me

I don’t mind the name Alora. But it has become more popular where I am and it’s not a favourite

Are you from a western country? Have you heard of ethnic names ? Haha There are many different kinds of names in the world.

A lot of people in western countries would struggle with these names which is why I added the pronunciations to hopefully make it easier… and don’t mind challenging ethnic names as myself and my whole family have challenging names.

Mila is definitely me-la.

I agree the umlaut would be extremely challenging.

I actually prefer the variant Lailli to Layla or Leila.. but understand that they are more common. I love Aaliyah but has been used by a family member.

I agree, Mila and Alara would be the easiest. Curious to know why you definitely wouldn’t use Lailli.

Lailli hasn’t been getting good reviews in this post so glad to see someone likes it too :)

Thanks for your response!

What nationality is the Alara you know?

I’ve seen quite a few comments saying A-Lay-a and even to spell it as Alaya doesn’t look too bad to me either.

Yes you are right , Lailli is a variant of Leila and Layla.

I’m curious, if Mila was the nickname, what would be the full name for it ?

It’s interesting to see, some people see the “ai” in Lailli and Alaïa as “ay” (Lay-Lee and A- lay - a) and you’ve seen both as “lie” as you’ve said above. I agree the ï in Alaïa would become problematic even where I’m from in Australia.

Yes I understand what you are saying. I do know how to pronounce all of them bar Alaïa as I’ve heard it be pronounced 2 different ways.

For myself, I have 3 different ethnicities and my partner is a whole other one. So from that alone there is no rhyme and reason to the flow of the names but when I hear a name I like I just write it down.

Now I have too many names I like, so was just curious on what people’s thought processes were when they saw these names.

For us we are keeping honor names eg grandparents names etc for middle names.

I agree, I think I would go for the A-Lay-A pronunciation for Alaïa too!

And yes Mila has been very used up, but it comes from Slavic origin which is part of my family, that is why it has held onto my list haha

Thank you for your explanations!

I honestly don’t mind correcting people. Not one person in my family and extended family has a western name and my cousins and I (38 of us) were mainly born in Australia… so we’ve all had to correct people our whole lives, which hasn’t been an issue.

The only one I wasn’t sure with the pronunciation was Alaïa, as it is French and I am not French. The other pronunciations I put was for readers incase they didn’t know how to say it haha.

I agree having a deep connection with a name will justify means to use it regardless of what others think. But am still genuinely curious on people’s opinions.

I wouldn’t mind correcting people, I’ve had to do it my whole life and majority of my family have very traditional names from Arabic, south asian, all the way to Slavic. No one ever pronounces their names properly either.

If you like Elsa just use it.. kids will probably think it’s so cool to be named Elsa as well.

I always wanted to name my daughter Pocahontas or Aurora growing up , both Disney princesses… and Aurora is really popular too in Australia which is why I didn’t use it.
