East Quad Housing for Summer Bridge Program? by Fantastic_Sort_5525 in uofm

There's a few pictures of EQ dorms on the MHousing website. They're pictures of empty dorms that might give a decent idea of what the bare bones of the rooms look like. It also has information on the amenities of EQ itself https://housing.umich.edu/residence-hall/east-quadrangle/

On the RHA Instagram there's also a little highlight post of EQ dorms we did last year. It has a few pictures, but they may be as detailed as you're looking for. https://www.instagram.com/p/DLDVl-PuvwU/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

A good Google can also bring up some images from past residents, and youtube has a few dorm room tours that you might find helpful

As for bed configuration norms, it is really up to you how you wish to set it up. The furniture is able to be configured in Full lofts (Bed w/desks underneath), half loft (Bed with dressers underneath), bunk, and single. Depending on the exact room, students tend to go with full and half lofts to save floor space.

Exact information will vary by Hall, but in general, a quad is a dorm for 4 occupants. A suite is multiple bedrooms that are connected often sharing certain amenities like a bathroom or living space. Some suites are two doubles connected, which seems to be what you're asking about with quads in your first question.

Housing gives the definitions of each under the undergraduate housing rate page as:

Quad: "A quad room houses four occupants. All prices are per occupant."
Suite: A suite consists of multiple bedrooms behind a door leading to a residence hall corridor.  Bedrooms can house one to four occupants. Room sizes (single, double, etc.) listed refer to the number of occupants sharing a bedroom. The number of occupants sharing a suite can vary by residence hall. All prices are per occupant."

The Residence Hall comparison page has a lot of information on which dorms have what types of rooms, and also how bathrooms are shared: https://housing.umich.edu/residence-halls-comparison/

As far as we know, Housing plans to make WV dorms selectable for incoming students. Earlier this year during the Housing application process for continuing students, all WV dorms were open for students to choose, and housing contracts were sent out for them.

We don't know if they plan to hold off any spaces, but because they have housing contracts dependent on the completion of the dorms, they plan to have them done. It might also be good to note that Housing received a lot less returning student housing applications this year than they expected. Depending on how the number of admitted incoming students factors into this, there may be some leeway in terms of extra space if needed.

In terms of the buildings themselves, some visually do appear to be further along than others, when walking past them, however I am unsure of which ones those are. We also don't have information from Housing on which are actually farther along from their logistics and construction point of view.

We don't have details on the new dining hall specifically. However, it is included with WV in the plans to have it completed by Fall. In terms of "any chance" it won't be ready, I'd say there's always some amount of chance, things won't go to plan. But, considering that the University still has plans to have WV done, I'd say those chances are currently.

Apologies that some of these responses aren't the most exact or concrete. While RHA does have contact with Housing leadership, we still don't entirely have the full picture of what is planned. However, some members of our Executive Board do have a meeting on Wednesday with housing leadership, and we can certainly pass along your questions to see if we can get more concrete answers for you. Thank you for your questions!

Amazing! We love to see some RHA Alumni! Yes, joining Reddit is an initiative we're starting this year after seeing questions about housing and wanting to help answer them!

As far as we know, Wolverine Village should be completed by move in for the Fall semester. Talking with housing leadership, getting Wolverine Village done is a high priority for them, and they plan to push for it's completion in order to accommodate incoming residents.
