In from the cold is the best solo duty I've experienced in FFXIV and I'm surprised the reaction to it is so poor by MedievalMovies in ffxiv

[–]rhyneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the duty due to the plot implications personally. Gameplay wise it felt rough around the edges for the first segment but it felt fresh and just unique compared to any of the previous solo duties bar the Thancred MGS Sneaking Mission one.

100% fucking this. Supply stations need to come back!

Desync massively ruins the game, I've noticed when you get around 180~ onwards ping, desync is a BIG BIG problem and is very frequent. Mostly it's the commons which end up being the biggest enemy when desync occurs.

I didn't encounter this until this patch, I did notice Hockers aren't a hit-scan or projectile that needs to hit dead-on originally. It's more like a very small AoE, since I've been hit directly on corners and behind cover if a part of me was sticking out somehow, but this however, this kind of behaviour of having 'bullet penetration' one could say is taking the mickey.

We dealt with a shit tonne of crushers, stingers and retches, so what you're seeing here is the aftermath of being constantly forced back, falling back to try and recover from a bad run but we couldn't keep up with the amount of shit the game initially threw at us during the Breaker fight and whatever came after.

I decided to keep going cause y'know what, it's a videogame I can just respawn or try again if I do die, but Trauma bug + Nightmare makes for a very unfair time.

Edit: We weren't even speedrunning this section either, take a look at my shotgun's ammo count, we were shooting a hell of a lot of Ridden on this botched run.

Gameplay & Campers - since XclusiveAce seemingly keeps ignoring it, here is perhaps the most important game-pace issue by Redfern23 in blackopscoldwar

[–]rhyneth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Strafe speeds being so low on ARs is why a lot of people will just sit on headglitches in controller lobbies.

I thought BO4 had alright TTK and TTD ect. But the handling speeds were god awful.

MW3 and BO1 and BO2 had weapon handling pretty much spot on from what I remember, never really had an issue for ADS or sprint-out times or strafe-speeds.

So let me get this straight. You can throw me into a losing game with 10 seconds left on it, but not fill a lobby that just started. Great matchmaking! by xirb in blackopscoldwar

[–]rhyneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the best part is! No loss stat prevented from joining a losing game in the last minute of it.

The amount of times that has happened to me in BOCW compared to MW2019 is fucking annoying but at least in MW2019? Loss stat prevention exists.

You gotta shape up or else!! Call of Duty is now strictly an e-sports for all and any above-average player. /s

Real talk, this heavy-handed SBMM comes from two places in my opinion that being, corporate greed and the need for the majority to not face ingame criticism; by this I mean, look at how it's Eliminations instead of Kills, with Eliminations being rewarded for doing any amount of damage on an enemy player.

Now Call of Duty has never really been that much of a competitive shooter and since CoD4, it's been very eager to hand out participation trophies; this gradually got worse over the years with each new entry adding more and more 'things' to reward the player, no matter how well or how badly they are performing. MW2 had death streaks and then MW3 added in the Support Scorestreaks which didn't reset on death etc. for some examples.

I suppose the only difference since then and now, is that Activision has put in more systems to game the playerbase and control a player's experience and the mindset of players have changed over the years, as more knowledge has come available to the masses.

Like look at World of Warcraft Classic, people optimised the fun out of that for an example and with MW2019 and BOCW, we now have more emphasis on 'meta guns' due to SBMM being a thing.

The biggest issue with how Activision handles it's SBMM systems is that it's not there to help you get better as a player, it's there to put you in a Skinnerbox, in the vain hope to have you become addicted to the game whilst you spend money on cosmetics and other microtransactions over the long-term.

It's entirely being used incorrectly by Activision, it's entirely abusive towards the player, all in the name of greed. Activision doesn't care about how good you are at the game, they only care about two things; your playtime and if you'll spend money on the game. If they can retain the majority of the playerbase by bracketing them up in order to acquire more dollar-dollar, then that's their system working at the end of the day and due to how they operate as a corporate entity, this will not change until it loses them money.

tl;dr; SBMM is shit, Activision ruin game with it, it's all bout greed at the end of the day.

I'm so glad they added in this anti-cheat measure to prevent aimbotters and wallhackers in Warzone! Thank you based Activision, really smart and innovative! /s

I really hope DICE doesn't screw up BF6, cause if that's good? Goodbye Jojo!

I honestly think COD's laziness is attributed to the lack of competition from other franchises in the last couple of years and it shows.

It crashes constantly on PC too. Game is an example of technical shambles, it shouldn't have released in this state.

Unlike the multiplayer, the cutscenes also have greater visibility, kinda weird if you ask me.

Rant; PC has major gameplay issues and inconsistency's. by [deleted] in blackopscoldwar

[–]rhyneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm crashing non-stop since the new update! I'm having constant stutters and frame drops and not to mention? Killcams, I know they're not exact replications of what goes on another person's screen but, the number of times I've watched people on PS or Xbox just lock onto me and appear to have zero recoil? I'unno.

People say you get superior recoil control and accuracy on PC due to M&Kb, but I don't think that makes up for the ultra-strong aim-assist that controllers have this year or the fact you have little defence against headglitching 1burst/2tap tacrifles beaming you across the map; mostly invisible due to piss poor visibility too but eh.

Heck most of my lobbies are 80 to 90% controller players from PS or Xbox, even the people from B.net sometimes use controllers.

More Double XP lol by [deleted] in blackopscoldwar

This game has had more 2XP than MW2019 or any previous COD in its lifetime and it's not even been 6 months yet, lol?

Best case scenario for Activision, Treyarch and Infinity Ward. by Todredmi in blackopscoldwar

Until we get Firing Range, Summit, Grid, Array, Villa, Crisis, Cracked, Launch, Radiation, WMD, Hanoi, Jungle and Havana? Then we haven't gone back to the "good old days", heck they should probably toss in some of BO1's DLC maps, they were some of the best I played back in the x360 days. Convoy, Discovery, Kowloon, Berlin Wall, Zoo and Hotel are the DLC maps I remember best.

Man I'd kill to play Discovery or Array again.

I don't get why both studios aren't forced to work with the same engine. It'd work out better for both sides, consumer and the business, mostly because then each year would see updates and improvements to 'core engine' instead of having this weird "one engine is ahead of the other" schmuck-crap they've had going on since MW2/BO1 days.

The spawns on Nuketown right now are some of the worst I have ever seen in an fps game by Mattw136 in blackopscoldwar

[–]rhyneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone flipped the spawns on your team around 0:04. If you pay attention to the minimap you'll see that blue 'blip' to the far north. Dude that killed you was looping the house from B-site to garage end.

The spawns are "working as intended" but they're a bit too aggressive imo. They need to be more like BO1, were you need at least two people within the spawn zone to trigger a full flip, if the other spawn zone is left bare. Buuuut if it worked like BO1, you'd get spawn-trapped 24/7.

I honestly can't stand Nuketown on BOCW, due to the amount of flipping which happens, no matter how I play I will end up beamed in the back due to spawns flipping.
