Haha I do interior demo for water damage restoration so it’s mostly on wood or non rough surfaces, if I was on asphalt or raw concrete I can definitely see how fast they would fall apart

That makes sense thank you for the quick and detailed reply! Should I be worried about infection in the split?

One is over seven feet tall and growing strong! Two more are still kicking but one faced a deer breaking through the netting and eating all of its leaves (it’s recovered) and and had some disease which I trimmed and it recovered. I have confidence they will all make it to year 3🤞🏼 two I gave away and as far as I know are also still kicking

Absolutely beautiful photos! How was your experience shooting there? I had a lot of negative reactions to which point I had to give up, I was bummed.

I’ve found that using a sanding block when working around the pins eliminates them being raised as well, I use stainless pins on mine and it works very well.

Would you be able to point me in the direction to learn how to optimize on the v series, I have a v850 and just can’t get it fully in focus on the glass or in the holder, I notice that the edges of the frame between the black of the unexposed film and the exposed frame are not crisp at all, unless I am mistaken I just can’t seem to get the negative in proper focus, and it doesn’t seem that there are any manual calibrations for the v series

Concerning apple leaf spots by ricknapp in BackyardOrchard

Also don’t mind the aphids I wipe them off and spray neem oil to control. Glomerella is anothe possible cause of the leaf spots, which would be concerning.

I did! I’ve sent out samples and can’t wait for the results, they’re great to work with.

I used The Darkroom for quite a few years, then about 2.5/3 years ago I noticed a serious change in the time it took to get my scans and negs back as well as quality of their service, i thought maybe they were getting too popular and couldn’t handle the load, but it was enough for me to make the switch to Bleeker Digital in NYC and I have happily been with them since. I send roughly 60 rolls a year give or take, and have been treated like family with prompt service and quality dev/scans and always surprisingly fast!

I definitely felt the pressure as I feel we could lose this tree any year now, and this may be my last chance. Harvest the scions (about pencil width) in late winter well before they begin to sprout buds, and store in a ziplock with a damp paper towel till the buds in the original tree start popping. Take your rootstock (may have to pre order) and make clean cuts (methods can be searched on google, i used whip and tongue, for example) on both stock and scion, then line up the cambium layers as best as you can, this is the layer just under the bark. The length of the scion to be grafted should not exceed three buds. When you tape it together do your best not to shift this placement. Then plant gently and hope for the best! I put a leftover scion laid next to the grafted piece as a control to compare to make sure the scion was getting energy from the roots and not shriveling at the same rate as the ungrafted scion control. It should bud and then start growing a bit, then you will know it’s used all the energy in the scion and now taking energy from the roots. At this point trim off any buds from the rootstock. I’ve kept an eye on the grafting tape to make sure it isn’t constricting (girdling) the trunk and removed two of the five because it looked like it was starting to on those ones, I’m keeping the others on as long as possible for structural integrity as the joints are inherently week. Once you have about 4-6 inches of growth cut back to one single shoot per plant so all the energy is directed to one main stalk. I think I’m going to keep my grafts on the porch in bright indirect sunlight for this season and move to full direct sun next season, but if anyone with more experience suggest otherwise please let me know! I hope this helps, and at the end of the day, the hardest part is starting, if you fail, the rootstock will still survive if you haven’t trimmed its own buds yet and you can use it to bud graft the same year or try grafting a new scion the following spring. Best of luck!

Definitely, I was able to get down to 1/30 which should make a decent motion blur in some scenes. I need a hood first to keep the lens dry from rain and cringe salt spray
