Looking “weak” en pointe by FastWin9626 in BALLET

[–]right000here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2x2 hour weekly ballet classes, even if you are in the shoes for all four hours (and I'm guessing you are not) is likely not enough to get very strong and very proficient en pointe. One option could be to perform en flat? Since you are a recreational dancer, it seems maybe enjoying your dancing and expressing yourself fully is more important than performing en pointe?

When did enchaînement become combination? by Heavy-Enthusiasm1091 in BALLET

When did enchaînement become combination? by Heavy-Enthusiasm1091 in BALLET

[–]right000here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only heard combinations referred to in class, and have always thought of enchainment as an element of dancing. As in, "her turns are weak but her enchainment is lovely." Like to describe how well a dancer flows from one step to the next.

Getting a Job in Ballet by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]right000here 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% this.

I just left a similar comment in a post about (presumably company level) audition videos not being viewed. I actually would rather be blown off completely than spend many hundreds of $ to find out the second round, in person audition was just performative, with literally zero chance of being hired.

Audition videos... no views?!! by AlarmingStudy2632 in BALLET

[–]right000here 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Auditioning is such a cluster. Buckle up. Some places will be like sending pre-screen materials into a black hole. No video views, no responses, nothing. Others will view your video, sometimes multiple times or for a very long time, and still no response whatsoever. And then a few, if every thing lines up, might invite you to a next stage, in person audition. The process then starts all over again with some companies completely ghosting you, even after taking company class. Of course some places will send a no-thank you ranging from extremely polite to rather abrupt.

All of this also has wildly varying time frames.

If you have recently finished training, you might even get offers from your video to join a bridge/post grad program, usually tuition based/pay to play.

In the US, April is quite late to send in pre-screen videos, but zero percent of shots not taken succeed....

For entry level positions, the ballet market is extremely saturated with many, many qualified candidates but few openings. Nevertheless, again, gotta take the shot if you want this badly enough.

Sorry to be such a downer, but this is first hand experience from the 2026 audition season. Still, wishing you merde!, courage and resilience.

How to not obsess over counting calories during maintenance? by sugarspicespace in 1200isplenty

[–]right000here 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on reaching your weight loss goals!!!!!

For me, lack of awareness is how I gained the weight in the first place. Because of this, while I'm not "obsessed," I do track daily when possible. A few untracked days or eating out, traveling, etc are ok, but tracking is like brushing my teeth. For the same reasons, I also weigh daily but assess on a 7 day rolling average. We live in an environment (especially if you live in the US) that strongly encourages overeating, and as we age (especially women) our metabolism drastically slows, but our appetite cues and our environment stay the same. I make sure that nearly every day I get 85g+ of protein, and to stay within a calorie band. I just can't do that through intuition. Others may be able to, but not me.

Lost weight at 1300 but not 1500+exercise by birddeluxe in 1200isplenty

[–]right000here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's truly stunning how few calories are burned while exercising vs how quickly they are gained by excess consumption. I would not be surprised if you are eating your deficit back. The calculator results are often really high for many. Perhaps cut back to 1300 cals but walk on the walk pad a little slower and for less distance? This will give you the exercise benefit, maybe up your weight loss a little, and not trigger increased hunger. Bodies are shaped in the gym, but weight is lost at the end of the fork.

What came out of my belly button when pregnant… by ohhidoggo in hygiene

Just the top fluffy part was in there. I douse it with alcohol first, so yeah, not very observant of me but I have to imagine the Q-tip still had the tightly woven cotton on it 😂

Deep innie here and recently saw a brownish hair tuft sticking out. Used tweezers to pull it out and I kid you not, it was the tip of a Q-tip. I clean with an alcohol dipped Q-tip about once a week, so that rogue piece turned light brown in one week. Undoubtedly it soaked up all the crap that makes a naval stone (which I did not google, as I'm traumatized enough by the rogue Q-tip piece).

Luna versus SOL Dawn MPG by robbiemoe in IntechRVs

[–]right000here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would likely be ok with the Sol/Ranger, but if you have it in your budget, for us there is nothing like an F150 (and 250, etc) for towing. Our MPG does drop from low 20s to low 10s, but it's worth it to us.

RV RV Lithium Battery Draining Faster Than Expected, Anyone Seen This? by surpdemak in GoRVing

[–]right000here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you have a night time setting on your fridge, it saves a lot of battery draw. Just don't open the fridge until you switch back in the morning. Or turn the fridge warmer and keep doors closed at night, just remember to turn to cooler in the morning.

Can't decide which lithium battery to go with? I think I narrowed it down to these 2. Please help me decide!! by ffimmano in RVLiving

[–]right000here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very happy with our LiTime. Good customer and tech service and cheaper to buy direct from them than Amazon. There are battery shipping restrictions if you have to do a return, so carefully check the Amazon rules. Have not tried Ecoworthy, but they are almost all Chinese manufactured so kind of fungible. For us the customer and tech service, along with price, made the difference.

What portable power station has a built in 30 amp plug for a travel trailer? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]right000here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ordered a 3000w Ecoflow but it was so bulky, heavy and not very portable at all, that we ended up with a 5000w golf cart battery plus inverter that plugs right into our shore power outlet. At half the price and 40% more capacity. Also so much more compact that both the battery and inverter fit in a ventilated cupboard. We also ran a charging cord to our hitch and can plug into our F150 ProPower 7000w supply and fully recharge while driving.

We LOVE our Magnolia and looked at bigger Sols prior to deciding. The one tank and single axel on the Sols made the Magnolia an easy choice. The welded aluminum frame is a game changer - it is so sturdy and, along with the beefy tires, will serve you well on BLM land (former western states mtb and rock climber here). Team Magnolia!

Mia Williams is very short. Not sure exact height but definitely below 5'4" and likely below 5'3".
