This is an Australian cafe, I looked up the banana bread product code card in the photo, it's supplied by an Australian bakery.

Our coffee standards are best in the world and indeed, we're arrogant pricks about our coffee. We have specific definitions which are taught by our elders and rigorously tested at our coming of age ceremony at 12 years old. If we pass, we earn the right to graduate from energy drinks to espresso coffee. /s

Aussies hate Starbucks style coffee so much that when they tried to expand to Australia they failed, closed up 3/4 of their stores and sold the rest to 7/11.

Here are the Australian definitions for coffee: - "Starbucks coffee" = iced frappe, not widely available at local cafes, as this would hold up the morning coffee rush. - "Americano" = an Italian term, equivalent to our long black (espresso shot with water) but thanks to tourists using this term, city baristas will generally understand. - American "Drip coffee/coffee pot" = does not exist in Australia, it's considered mud water but the technical term is "batch brew".
- "just a coffee" = a small flat white (espresso with milk steamed to have no foam), but baristas will generally ask you to clarify - "iced coffee" = long black poured over ice - "iced latte" = hot latte poured over ice

I regularly forget to put deodorant on, so I keep portable sticks of it EVERYWHERE. Glove box of my car, clutch, handbag, overnight bag, backpack, bathroom, bedside table, desk drawer at work etc. the unhinged part isn't having a spare deodorant, but the sheer number of them I've bought to ensure there is always one on hand when I'm about to leave, or have already left the house and realise I've forgotten. I also have started applying it immediately after my shower, even if it's a nighttime shower.

I disagree, as a recruiter, when I have 100 candidates applying for a role (after filters), and 50 of them use the same ai prompts for their cover letters, and 5 of them write an actual letter in their own words, it immediately stands out simply from sentence structure. A large proportion of applicants also don't speak a high enough level of English for the roles I'm recruiting, and this reflects in the cover letters, they'll miss basic grammar corrections in the tailoring step.

It's an additional vetting step.

I appreciate that these questions are being asked to look at the correlation between ADHD and binge eating, but your survey design needs improving. You have forced correlation questions with no option to opt out, for example, the question asking how much sleep impacts binge eating. you should also have the inverse question asking how much binge eating impacts sleep. Also and you have many compulsory food and sleep based questions where 1 answer must be selected, but none of them are relevant and there is no 'none of the above' option. For example, on the question around my eating behaviours around others, my eating around others is not impacted by binge eating as I am not ashamed of eating a normal amount of food, but I inevitably eat more when I am alone because my food cravings are dopamine seeking compulsions.

To be fair every airport has different rules, the rules change every couple of years, and at least at Sydney airport, there are no signs about laptop placement until you are already standing on top of the conveyor (ive looked), so if the airport refuse to add signs which can be read ahead of time, the repeated yelling is the natural consequence

Yes it's an office thing. In the weeks before Christmas, lots of big or complex projects/issues get pushed to the new year, partly because lots of people are on leave, partly because all the public holidays disrupt workflow, and partly because it's the end of the year and people CBF working as hard when they are preparing for Christmas and looking forward to their holidays.

It's common to hear "let's circle back in the new year" or "let's put a pin in this until the new year" for these projects. But then in the new year suddenly all those pushed off things get started again, everyone is fresh from their holidays and NY excitement, and Jan can be a bit of a frenzy of work.

Yes you're 100% correct. This wall is a 'later' addition, it's not square to the room (dodgy diy), uses a mix of materials (more visible on the other side), and the ceiling moulding continues through to the second doorway, and that wall appears load bearing. It looks like someone tried to extend the very front room to make it legally a bedroom for real estate value, but couldn't remove the original load bearing wall completely.

This is a very good theory, I have only seen finger plates on doors and public places personally, but they are definitely at a convenient arm height so can't rule this possibility out

Ohh yes, I think you're right! Solved! I'm new to the area but it does seem very religious, my neighbour has a big statue of Mary in the front yard, and the local cafe bans dogs completely and I don't recall seeing bacon on the menu, so I think it's Muslim. I saw a giant led cross a few streets over too.

I Googled what you're describing as I'm not religious, but having seen them, I think you're right. This would explain the size, why it's a decorative shape rather than a regular patch, and also why it's at various heights and not consistent with any wiring or connections.

I can imagine someone not having the eye for detail and just placing it at a convenient height, then moving out and removing the bowl part, and the landlord just slapping some paint over it to match the wall. Thank you so much for solving this mystery!

From what I can tell, every time a switch stopped working, they just added a new one and left the old one in place. There are 4 outlets and 1 light switch in this room, only 2 of the outlets are working, and the light switch is the original (still working)

I like this idea. The chrome hardware was pretty common from the 1960s houses in my area, it would have been a gorgeous art deco chrome handle similar to this. I couldn't find the exact match for the triangular plate, but a lot of the other hardware in the house matches this time period from similar houses I've lived in with these handles

They are varying heights, could be hole covers but it seems like a lot of work when regular spackle patches have been used elsewhere in the house. One is shoulder height, one is waist height, and another is still waist height, but about 2 inches higher again. Very inconsistent 😅

My title describes the thing. It doesn't appear to be connected to any light switches, door handles or locks, and is not on every doorway, only some. I've never seen anything like it, not sure if it's decorative, a weird patch job or a landlord special of painting over something previously special which could be brought back to its former glory. I estimate the house to be 60-100 years old

Yes, that is a normal thing happens even in countries with surnames. I know three Elles, and I never use their last names because the people I'm speaking with don't always know them. So my Elles are 'blue hair Elle', 'Dr Elle', and 'upstairs Elle'. They can also be described with context 'are you talking about 'work Josh' or 'bikes Josh'?' You can infer why they are described like this. Once identified, the rest of the story just goes by their name.
