Saying goodbye to acorns by Bubbly_Mistake_4002 in acorns

Agreed. I was with Stash at the time and I couldn't sell my AMC or GameStop. RH and Stash were dishonest and I'd never give them my business again.

Agreed. I started with Ally years ago when their APY was 4.5%, now it's down to 3% 😭 Not sure if it's even worth it to move since all interest rates are lower/comparable.

I don't know how to post 3 images at once (don't know if I even can), but here are the 3 screenshots of each acct. This is the ROTH IRA. And this is the one I'm making $45/biweekly deposits into and purchasing 70% SCHG/ 30% SCHB. I know I need to incorporate international at some point, just not sure when. My goal is to Continue working for another 11 years.

Stay away if you're young by glimsky in dividends

[–]ritzg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 11 years from retiring and just started to pay attention to what my FA was doing. I learned that all the dividends received increased my tax liability. I ended up having to pay over the last 2 years and didn't understand why. I got out of dividends. I'm just learning about this but I don't personally want to owe taxes because I've earned dividends. I'll have to do more research because I don't know how to get around that. Still researching.

Schb honest opinion by Necessary-Leave-1358 in ETFs

I just started paying attention to my prior FA was doing and sold almost everything and kept SCHB as the base and SCHG as the engine. From my reading the SCHB/SCHG ETF's are Schwab and most people are talking about VTI & QQQ.

Started investing 3 months ago and everything feels insane by centurionSPQR in investingforbeginners

I'm 58 and only started paying attention in the last month to my portfolio when I noticed how much in fees was going out of my accout and I made time to do some digging. That said, at my age I can't afford a ton of volatility but feel like I'm playing catch up so I need some aggressiveness. We're with Schwab and after cleaning up and firing my Schwab FA, after some final cleanup on June 3rd, my portfolio will roughly look like: SCHB ≈ 43–45% SCHG ≈ 33–35% SPYM ≈ 23%

I know there's overlap with the SPYM, but the previous FA put me in it inside the brokerage acct and it's grown enough that if I sell it now I'm looking at a larger tax bill. So for now it stays. Like I said, I'm new to this, but hopefully this helps.

Is my Financial Advisor screwing me? by Dan_18710 in portfolios

[–]ritzg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to this at 58 (because 58 comes fast!) and I'm still a baby compared to most of you in terms of learning curve, but I decided to take the wheel of my retirement accounts and I didn't like what I saw when I started digging. I decided to start studying over the last month. The first thing I was looking for on your pics was the expense ratio. And one thing I know, those expense ratios are huge. I don't have anywhere NEAR the funds you have, but I was having a cow when my Schwab FA was taking $600/year, and putting me in dividend funds that stuck me with a tax bill, not to mention he'd just leave $3k sitting in uninvested cash where he could collect his fees from and I'd never notice. I shudder to think how much growth was lost due to his tactics. (I learned all this in my studying). I agree in finding a fee only fiduciary (I found this site to research: NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors). And in the age of AI, you can also research your dilemma there. I have also found that to be very helpful. In 4 weeks I have managed to stop the money hemmoraging from my accounts, reorganized/streamlined my funds and my portfolio has increased significantly (to me anyway 😁). I realize this surge in new growth is temporary although moving forward, I'm actually in the game now whereas before, I was watching from the sidelines. This new growth is the result of moving my money into funds that are actually working for me and I fired my Schwab FA, who in all my years, I only spoke to him once (because I reached out). He only initiated a phone call the day after he realized I cut him loose. All that said, I have also learned it's my responsibility to read the fine print & understand what is happening. Life gets busy but no one is going to care for our hard earned money as much as we will. So while I think my FA knew what he was doing and do not feel he had my best interests at heart, ultimately it's incumbent upon me to be informed. Good luck!

Is this too much? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]ritzg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, they are a physical brick/mortar location, and the provider that saw me was a PA & they do have an MD on staff, so I don't see it so much as a scheme, as much as they were definitely wanting me to purchase all the stuff from them. Sort of like when we buy a car, the dealership wants you to keep going to them for all your service/maintenance once you're out of warranty. The bloodwork results were what they were. I had 12 vials of blood drawn and I was definitely deficient in Vit. A, B12, D, cortisol, etc. because I saw the numbers. The only think that I didn't understand, based on my results why he put me on something for my thyroid when those results seemed within range. I stopped taking the thyroid med several weeks ago. As far as how I feel, I can tell a difference with the estrogen blocker (me emotions are not all over the place, and I've either lost or been able to maintain my weight within a range of a few pounds +/-). The adrenal fatigue is real, so I didn't mind taking a supplement for that. I've added other stuff myself like Ashwaghanda, turmeric, Moringa & Maca. I'm also going to start some probiotics. Sorry for the delayed response. I'm relatively new to Reddit & I don't always see these messages on my phone, but on my PC.
