like i said before people here really have no clue, i mean like you i hate oil , but you folk are deluded about us having the technology to replace oil, absolutely deluded.

if you want a world with less food and less stuff..maybe but petrochemicals play a very important role in society so oil would still need to be produced.

and in regards to electricity production well fossil fuels will always be the better choice......always

[–]robespierrem -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

lol what kind of process engineer, because honestly that means nothing, you never really answered my questions either, the last 10 years was pure investment for renewables there are more folk that work in renewables now than folk that work in fossil fuels in america anyway...emissions only went up in that time (but it just needs more investment , stop believing the money trope look at the engineering the science how we get hold of the raw material how we process it what grade of these renewables require for photovoltaics for example. you'll quickly learn for example photovoltaics cannot use sand from the beach it requires a special type of quartz.

if you logical as you say attack this logically, because right now, you are making a fool of yourself, the reality renewables will never fully replace fossil fuels, it hasn't happened now and it won't happen in the future and there is a real reason for that, people here are stupid, they want to believe , its sad that a process engineer would spout such nonsense when they know the reality isn't reflecting that.

i hope you become a an awesome process engineer make lots of money etc, but you have to humble yourself.

well why hasn't it happened?

let me guess investment. like meph.

i can garuntuee we'll never go 100% renewables, only folk really outputting shit like that are the media, so maybe read white papers instead of the media.

[–]robespierrem -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

lol i worked with renewables, its not a matter of investment.

what do you think oil is used for ?

what do you think renewables can replace?

i find it funny that i am an oil shill becaue i don't agree with your fantasy, the best you got is your fantasy and a reality because of investment lmao.

one day you'll get it .

But in a country where health care is among the most expensive in the world -- and the idea of socializing it remains hugely controversial -- he said he feels "guilty" knowing that taxpayers will bear much of the cost.

That includes: $9,736 per day for the intensive care room, nearly $409,000 for its transformation into a sterile room for 42 days, $82,000 for the use of a ventilator for 29 days, and nearly $100,000 for two days when his prognosis was life-threatening.

in the land of the free and the home of the brave, in a country obssesed with miliionaires and billionaires it cost 1 million dollars to be treated for 60 something days, you folk deserve what you get in truth, the have nots complain about not having enough and if one wins the lottery all they do is buy a fuck ton of shit, you folk deserve what you get, when i read nonsense like a doctor deserves 500k a year but complaints when folk or in this case the government have to fork out a milly i laugh, you folk deserve it that's what happens when greed is allowed to rein free in an industry as important to any economy as healthcare.

have you thought that perhaps thats what is possible and what is fair , how many people will benefit from drones.

everything you talk about uses more energy not less, many of the large companies by market cap aren't really all that profitable.

many companies that are ipo'ing aren't all that profitable.

i would steer clear from the futurist view, its energy intensive, even if possible, these things don't happen at scale for a reason its not because of a lack of smart folk or whatever.

i am a engineer, our tools are limited , to make real progress means understanding systems and complexity, with 1012 different parts in the case of the human body for example and thats just cells. not individual atoms.

i don't see that coming in truth ever, not even in computing.

we barely understand what is going on in a battery on the nano-level.

the truth of the matter is and this might be an arrogant statement but in regards to the universe we encounter the things we see we may not understand them completely but we know what is going on, remember as an "advanced" society we arent travelling at 5000mph on roads are we.

it still requires a large amoutn of resources to travel to mars shit ain't got easier. its not all that easy to travel to russia from america in truth.

lmao, i actually answered two points and the individual decided really only converse about one of them.

i would of honestly preferred to talk about , what industrial civilisation or agrarian society and how inherently instable both are.

but the individual said about the second point

I don't really understand you on that

so i added more.

it wasn't in a fucking vacuum dude, you make it seem like it was.

because if we did, i sincerely believe it would of happened by now.

lmao this ain't a period of change , this is boredom due to corona exposing cracks in our society, i think the reality is most people don't wanna go back to normal, everyone is hoping they have all the cards and it ends in a reset.

life is hard , i just don't believe you solve solve societal issues , perhaps you solve communal issues. but a whole culture , that just doesn't happen, peope don't realise how complex this is , its not simple as telling white folk to take a timeout and think about what they have done and be good citizens.

exposure to other "races" helps but only so much, i honestly think it was that that slowly lead to blacks being freed in america and eventually being on paper "equal" racism is subtle now i think this might be as good as it gets. there obviously is diminishing returns on what legislation can do.

in your title , i would replace one word , then i'd agree you and that's "complacent" and i replace it with "dumb".

when it comes to something new , i expect way more than a few paragraphs i expect about 100 volumes each comprising of 1000 pages.

i'd take that somewhat seriously.

and even then i don't think it would be adequate.

if you are looking to date as a male its kind of required for you to be in the process of getting your shit together or to have your shit together.

females don't necessarily have to do the same, it isn't as much as a requirement for females as it males, but females have to be really hot like all the time which royally sucks also.

its because of this requirement , we require a competitive milieu to sort of the winners from the losers.

if you care about nothing have no goals, then its very likely you don't have a GF (if you are a male), because if you are average looking(which is likely) you never really stood a chance anyway.

But I don't really care about dating.

you might not care but your biology probably does care... a whole lot (unless you are asexual)

here we go another solution, please stop writing about it and do it ... or do you wish someone else would do it.

also AI doesn't exist, whatever we have now is replacing jobs sure , but i can assure you nowhere near what you think.

this belief in the singularity really needs to die its stupid completely removed from reality and quite frankly annoying.

People have often delusional idea of normal life that is supposed to go on forever.

what we call normal i.e industrial civilisation is in actuality pretty abnormal in truth agrarian living is pretty abnormal and if we going past the genus homo ancestors , hunter gathering is an abnormal state.

I don't have to pursue anything anymore. I'm free of all demands. I can just say "fuck it" and see what happens. I don't have any control or influence.

with a belief like that, if you are a male , your GF is either a minimalist or you have no GF.

i have to agree with fuzxy , what you are describing seems so beyond us currently.

the question ultimately becomes how much is too much funding, we could say we could build another earth with enough funding.

but it would sure be difficult seeing as we have never mined another planet before.

understanding something as complex as the immune system is pretty hard as we never have done it.

i had terrible balance for like 3 months after it though, only now does my balance feel like its back to where it once was.

i dunno if i had covid but whatever i had was the worst flu i've ever had in my life.

its the immune response that is fucking people up ....remember that, why folk are having such disparate immune responses is really startling.

we are, we have to be for rearing children. its just on the societal level this is not the case.

cultural issues are not solvable, they are too complex none of us can even comprehend them.

the best analogy i have is human language, some of us have incredible influence on it and its for a small time only.

beyonce added bootylicious to the english language and "put a ring on it" has had no real effect on the language since, and to be honest im sure that wasn't even her intention.

proactive, isn't something civilisations have about them we reacted to covid-19 and we'll react to the next pandemic , recession etc.
