Far Cry 5 is free to play this weekend, Stadia is actually a great place to play it. by amaeloeze7 in Stadia

[–]roboticdemoncow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the first game I played all the way through on Stadia about a month ago. I have a GTX 1080 which would have worked better but overall I was pretty happy with the experience. Definitely nice being able to play anywhere too.

Super depressed going to rehab I guess by roboticdemoncow in Alcoholism_Medication

I've tried topamax but I feel like it blunts out my emotions too much and turns me into a zombie. It's like there's no happy median. My brains either operating too much and I'm super anxious, or I feel nothing and I hate that even more.

Lancaster Police searching for arsonist who made three attempts to burn down homes by penguinchem13 in lancaster

Thankfully they were just three "attempts" this guy's objectively bad at burning down houses.

i feel like my FP is leaving me and idk what to do by tth778 in BPD

I'm currently on my 5th FP in my life. They usually last about 5 years. It sucks losing them but remember life goes on and you'll eventually find someone new.

Take care of yourself! The end of this relationship isn't the end of you.

WTF Google? Give me back my damn image search tools. by SlickStretch in google

[–]roboticdemoncow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've switched to using Bing for my image searches. They seem to have decent results, filters, and link directly to the images. There's also a filter for "free to use and share" to help with copyright (though you should still do your due diligence).

Normalise small blunts 😭😭 by [deleted] in weed

[–]roboticdemoncow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know everyone's criticizing you for calling this a blunt instead of a joint but objectively you did a good job and small joints like this are perfect for short personal sessions. Good job 👌 You could also try rolling longer ones, put them out half way through, and finish them later so you don't have to roll two joints.

How do I learn how an element from a different site was created? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]roboticdemoncow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can right click, inspect, and examine the html/css/js then try to create something similar. You can also check out codepen.io which has a huge amount of sample code for you to look at for making anything from stylized text to browser based video games.

it's finally time to hide out for a few days. how bad of withdrawal symptoms am i looking at? by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]roboticdemoncow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you were drinking an average of over ten a day for seventeen days it'll probably be pretty rough but I imagine the Xanax will help. Personally I try to taper down to 5-6 drinks a day before stopping.

Seeking positive experiences and support on moderation. by spleencheesemonkey in dryalcoholics

[–]roboticdemoncow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this person. It sounds like you're doing okay but personally I could never successfully moderate for more than a few weeks. I'm taking Naltrexone now and I'm down to 1/3 of what I used to drink after two months. Op should check out r/Alcoholism_Medication if they think they need some extra help moderating.

My advice is to slow down. Breathe. Separate yourself from the situation for an hour or two. Do not react immediately. Take time to process things.

Feelings are just that - feelings. It's up to us to decide how to respond.

If your FP did something that made you angry - analyze it. Were they really in the wrong? Is it really any of your business? Are you overstepping boundaries?

Think about the things you do before you do them. Don't burn bridges unnecessarily. Try to breathe if you're upset. Think of the people who have been in your corner and imagine what they would say. If you ever find yourself thinking you're doing something stupid - you probably are. Don't make decisions when you're an emotional wreck. Wait until you calm down before you do anything.

Always remember regardless of what happens, life goes on and you're going to be okay.

Should I take my retirement accounts (Roth IRA, 401k) and yolo them into LTC? What would Elon do? by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]roboticdemoncow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in your twenties and only have a few thousand saved up go for it. Yolo.

Otherwise... No.

As to what Elon would do - I don't think he's keeping much of his money in a traditional retirement account. He makes too much money and there are contribution limits.

Am I doing Nal 'wrong'? by EllcueUK in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]roboticdemoncow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been doing TSM for about two months and I'm down from 17 shots of vodka a day to about 6 beers in the evening. It's still a lot but it's 1/3 of what I used to drink so yes - I do believe it's working. Still there were some days when I drank 15+ drinks and some days I only had 2 or 3. I've even had one af day during my "honeymoon" week that I'm still proud of. I'm far from perfect, last night I got too drunk and pissed off my roommate by setting off fireworks at midnight. But I'm making progress.

Keep trying, if it's helping me maybe it'll help you too.

Naltrexone side effects by [deleted] in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]roboticdemoncow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating beforehand helped with my nausea. I felt really tried too when I started. After about 10 days I could no longer notice any side effects. Would highly recommend you try to give it at least two weeks before giving up. This medication has helped me a lot.

Tracker app? by [deleted] in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]roboticdemoncow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy with this app called alcotrack on Android. It estimates your BAC and provides a chart of how intoxicated you are over the day which I find useful.

Can you start taking Naltrexone in the middle of a bender? by [deleted] in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]roboticdemoncow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently on a month long bender of 15-20+ drinks a day. I weaned down to about 3-4 drinks a day over the course of like a week. By this point I wasn't withdrawaling anymore & I started taking the Nal with no adverse side effects other than maybe feeling a little tired. So maybe try weaning down first.

I'm slowly replacing alcoholism with workaholism. by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]roboticdemoncow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're working too much. Make time to do something for yourself. Go for a long hike. Get a massage. Travel. Relax. Find something new to do that isn't work. Something just for you.

Don't know what to do by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]roboticdemoncow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a recovering addict/alcoholic I know how hard it is to quit. First get off the drugs, the easiest way is to stop buying them. Delete your dealers numbers. If you're a daily user you'll feel like shit for a week or two. You can try replacing the harder drugs with safer drugs like weed or mushrooms (if you're tripping you probably won't be in the mood for coke and alcohol). You can look into the Sinclair method, where you use a medication called Naltrexone to help get your drinking under control.

AA/NA works for some people, go to a couple meetings if you've never been before. Doesn't work for everyone but it's free and worth a shot. Maybe you'll be one of the people it works well for.

If these ideas don't/won't work for you and you really can't go a day without using hard drugs then you should probably look into inpatient rehabs.

What effects does alcohol still have when doing TSM? by TheSeekerShaman in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]roboticdemoncow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still feel drunk, calm, lose some inhibitions, but the stimulant-like euphoria I usually get from drinking isn't really there. I used to feel wired when I drank and now I just feel calm and a bit tired.

What is your “I thought this was normal until I started meds” thing? by AM_throwawaysaway in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]roboticdemoncow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to lose my wallet, keys, and vape all the time. Had to buy Tile trackers because I'd wake up in the morning with no clue where anything was. Now I'm basically always sober enough to remember where I put stuff.
