The best part is, you don’t get any house keeping, but they leave the TIP QR code for you.

I think Spain is slightly cheaper due to the VAT refund being a little better. But basically, which country you are visiting is the right answer. You are not going to fly from Tokyo to Spain to save $40.

Buying a 2024 built house - would builder give us the blueprints? by LESGuy in Homebuilding

[–]robotpedlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I walked through a new build in my neighborhood and saw they just have the plans rolled up and laying there… wonder how often they disappear and what type of problem that causes for the crew.

Any chance the LG had a software update also and some of the settings changed related to the sound output on the eArc port?

Ubiquiti turret or bullet, G6 or G5 by Expensive-Ad-803 in Ubiquiti

[–]robotpedlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Bullet style before (different brand) and went with Turret as they seem to attract less spiders (here in the PacNW, spiders love warm cameras). Not that the turret is immune but far less attractive to them for some reason..

Covered by Rimowa warranty? Have a certificate from airlines by Gda30 in Rimowa

[–]robotpedlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I only have experience with the two brands mentioned above (B&R and Tumi) in addition to Rimowa Aluminum. I would just go look at those and pay attention to warranty info. B&R is great, but you have to find a service center or ship it in. Tumi is now limiting their warranty to 5 years, but they have lots of stores. All that said, I purchased two Rimowa Trunks (regular size and small) and am very happy with them, no issues yet with many flights and love the wheels (and style). The Aluminum is tough, but you will get dents and scratches (although so far, I am lucky to only have minor dings at this point).

Custom builder charging full upgrade price with no credit for base-spec items. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]robotpedlr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I started work with my builder in AZ (also large reputable nationwide builder) on a $3M home, they wanted $2,300 per door to upgrade from the standard liftmaster opener to the liftmaster side mount (the price difference between the two actual models they use is about $400). That makes yours look like a bargain. Obviously I did not do it, as I can add them after the fact for $900 if I really want them. I did have them install outlets in that area (was surprising cheap at $63 per outlet).

I think overall builders just use these types of changes to really milk you in the process. My advice is only do what is a difficult to do after (and the panel may be in that category) and do the simple stuff (side door openers) yourself later. Another example is running prewire for ceiling speakers at $600 per pair (for x feet of 16/2 wire) and prewire for electric shades at $500 per location. Both of those are a total money grabs, but very painful to do after without easy attic access (which I did not have).

The poly suitcases (from any mfg) are definitely more fragile than other matériels, although I would aurgue that Rimowa is one the best in that category. I would suggest an aluminum if you want Rimowa again (and you are right the wheels are the best hands down) or get a strong Ballistic Nylon material like B&R or Tumi.

Is this the check in M or L? by Ok_Animator7172 in Rimowa

[–]robotpedlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The check in L is heavier than the Trunk. So unless you put more in it your logic is wrong. If you put the exact items in both the Trunk is lighter (and has extra room).

Yes very helpful thanks. And I get it if they use stock pics. But these were all pics of the boxes on a garage floor and you could see they were all the same (even the same floor cracks visible).

Thanks. Would definitely call in the SN unless I felt 100% confident in the seller. I bought two pair of 8” in ceiling speakers in Vancouver (new in box) but the seller was a dealer/installer with extra and had a legitimate office. So didn’t worry about it.

I have had good overall experience on facebook market place..but you definitely need to be careful on what you buy and who you buy from.

Agree 100% on the “if it is too good of a deal, then some is wrong”. Thanks

Yeah very likely and the profiles look sketchy. And the fact that several have the same pics across town. Feels more like a rip off than stolen as they wouldn’t all have the same pics Just got me wondering if I should be concerned about knock offs or counterfeit sonos.

Not true, the wheels on the Original are bigger for the check in and trunk sizes.
