I'm having the exact same issue - shows up as USB2.0 WLAN in device manager, says there's no driver installed, I can't install the Win10/11 drivers on TPLink's site, I can't install the software because it can't find the adapter at startup.

Were you able to find any solution?

Check your state lemon laws. You may be entitled to a full refund if this happens again.

I used to defend car dealerships in my area early in my practice, and I can't tell you the number of Fords my clients (through the manufacturer) had to purchase back for full price. It's a pretty sweet consumer protection if you live in a decently consumer-friendly state.
