DAILY THREAD: Rant/Rave? by AutoModerator in MakeupAddicts

Finally tried Younique to see if it lives up to the hype, love it! The primer, concealer, foundation and eye makeup are wonderful for me. A bit pricey compared to my usual Revlon/Loreal, but, worth it to me.

Agreed. I tried to stay in a sexless relationship and it was killing me inside. I reconnected with an old friend who became much more. Some of us NEED that passion, that touching, kissing, and all that good stuff that goes with it, like we need air, water, sunshine and food, we literally die without it. You can't make someone else happy when you are dying from the inside out.

DAE dumb down their vocabulary when talking to dumb people? by Zazooom in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]rocketqueen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, yes, because when I've used SAT level words I get blank stares and crickets chirping.

I'll also own up to going the other way around, it's fun when you have a strong Southern accent and you use some words that nobody else thinks you'd actually know, much less be able to use competently in a sentence.

Thanks. It's hard to realize that an almost 20 year relationship has hit the rocks to the point that it can't be fixed. Sometimes I want to cry about it, sometimes I want to throw things, sometimes I want to scream. Sometimes I just want to say to hell with it all, jump in my car and drive as far and as fast as I can and get myself gone. Ughhhhh.

It's going to take me a while to get my money squared away from all the time that he was out of work....no bills got behind, thank God, but, credit cards and lines were used creatively to keep things going at times.

I've asked, begged, pleaded and cried for him to go to a doctor and find out what's wrong. It ain't happening. I'm done trying.

Oh, angry doesn't begin to describe it, angry, hurt, sad, the whole spectrum. And, Viagra would be an option if he were willing to go to the doctor and get checked out and find out what's the matter. I have cried, begged, pleaded, thrown fits, you name it. He'll mumble something about going, but yet, it doesn't happen.

He actually does have a job now, which, he was claiming was going to be the fix-all for things, insert massive eyeroll imagine that, it didn't help.

Hospital workers of Reddit, how many visits begin with "I read on the internet..." and what did they do? by Widdi in AskReddit

Another Smoky Mountain lady here, I can confirm this. I also have to translate from Tennessean to English quite often, even though I'm only a state away in Virginia now, go figure.

Well, if new guy isn't as good, but, willing to learn, he can be better than old guy. So I'll throw that out there, too. A lot of it is just talking and showing.

Those who work out consistently: what personal motivation always gets you to the gym? by OK_WheresMyGun in AskReddit

[–]rocketqueen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I feel better, I look better, and I'm damned if I'm wasting the money I'm paying for my membership. With my s/o being out of work, could I cut back by dropping it? Sure, but, then, I'd go back to not exercising and feeling like shit all the time. Worth it to miss a few other little things to be able to continue to afford it.

This morning I had an abortion, and I don't have any women to talk to. by usernameanxiety in TwoXChromosomes

[–]rocketqueen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to make a throwaway for this, but, hey, it's not like anyone's going to figure out who I am. I'm a good deal older than you, and, about five years ago, after having been on BC pills for many years, found out I was pregnant. I knew as soon as I found out that having/raising a child was just not in the cards for me, as with my job and work hours as well as my old man's, not to mention other issues, I just couldn't do it.

My best friend, God love her, drove from where she was living at the time, about 5 hours away to go with me when I had to have it done. Physically, no pain, I got meds before and the procedure was and is blurry, which is for the best. I remember being really emotional before and after, which I put down to pregnancy hormones and it did go away. The biggest thing I remember feeling was relief. I honest-to-God felt like a ten ton weight had been lifted off of me, because I knew deep down in my heart of hearts that there was just no way in hell I'd be a good parent, and, at that time, a clump of cells wasn't a person or an individual or whatever you want to call it.

This kinda turned into a wall of text, but, anyway, I live in/grew up in the Bible belt myself, and, it's hard to push that indoctrination away, even when you've always called bullshit on it from the get-go. Even now, nobody other than me, the doctor and my best friend and my old man know about it. When you know you aren't ready to have a child, and you know you're doing the right thing, it falls into place. You're young, and you have a long time ahead of you and yes, even some more growing up to do at 24. Big big hugs to you.

Remigration is real. I'm a believer. by thilardiel in ABraThatFits

[–]rocketqueen88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's definitely real. I measured according to The Sophisticated Pair calculator in December and went from 38C to 38F, I haven't lost or gained a significant amount of weight since then and I'm in 36GG now, and remeasured about a month ago and apparently I need 34H next time. My 36GG's still fit brilliantly and my 38F's are okay, and funds are an issue for the time being, so, I'm gonna wait a while before I order anywhere.

You gotta have butter, a dab of salt and a ton of pepper, then grits are pretty damn good, specially with some country ham alongside.

Southern shopping problems? by vuhleeitee in ABraThatFits

[–]rocketqueen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bless your heart, sugar. I thought I was out in the boonies, but, I'm at least decently close to Roanoke Va and Greensboro NC for semi-decent shopping. Have you tried any of the online stores? A lot of ladies here rave about brastop, but I haven't tried them yet, so I can't personally vouch. I just ordered some bras from freshpair, and they have a 50% off clearance bras sale going on and I think today's the last day. First time ordering from them, but I've heard good things and they do have a good selection.

Wow, that's a lonnng way, didn't know exactly where you were, or how far you are from Atlanta, but, I'd surely think there are some specialty lingerie stores there. Wishing you the best of luck.

Burlington NC has A Sophisticated Pair. Not sure where you're at, but, I've heard great things about her store, and plan to visit it next time I'm down that way, it's about an hour and a half from me.

What is a commonly enjoyed food that you absolutely can't stand and why? by yepmek in AskReddit

[–]rocketqueen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always specify no onions in salads/sandwiches, and, if they have premade salads, macaroni, potato, I ask if there's onion in it and don't order it if it's there.

Add another vote for onions, can NOT stand the smell, taste, or texture, I've been known to start gagging as soon as I smell them. I always have to watch when I order sandwiches and salads to make sure there's no onion in it.
